How 'one country, two systems' ensures Hong Kong's prosperity and stability

我错了,我一开始以为你是民运,原来是想学张勋

If you follow my posts in the past, I never fond to foreign ideologies like democracy and communism.

The ideology may be good, and there are something we can learn from it.

But overall, it's not suitable for Chinese people.

We have the best University in all of Asia (HK University), we have the freest economy in the entire world (according to the Index of Economic Freedom), the most mature and stable financial markets, and one of the highest average incomes on the whole planet.

In fact we are ranked as the 3rd best financial center in the whole world. And we have the highest life expectancy of any region on Earth.

That's how we'll be competitive. Already, the best and the brightest Mainlanders are competing to get in to HK, go to HKU and you will see how many successful and competitive Mainlanders we have attracted to boost our city.

I feel your knowledge about HK real situation is not deep enough.

How HK great universities help HK local economy competitiveness? Especially how HK university can help HK movie industry to rival Hollywood? Is it happening?

Freest economy in the world, aka non-interfering from the government. So basically no help from HK government to help local companies to compete in global market. One example, do you believe under this system, HK movie industry can surpass Hollywood in government no-help perspective? Can you explain it how?

What is HK biggest financial companies? What is the Chinese name of the owners?

What is minimum wage in HK? Compare it with Tokyo, NY, Paris, London, Geneva, etc.

Movie industry?

Soft power is meaningless. Hard power matters, that's why the PRC is recognized as China by every major country in the world. And it's why Taiwan can't even enter the Olympics using their own name, let alone any other major international organization.

And even for the movie industry, I consider Mainland movies (especially the "serious" dramas) to be far better than Taiwanese movies, and about as good as HK movies from the 1980's-1990's.

I've seen plenty of Taiwanese movies, they are good for "entertainment" but not much else.

As for the HK economy, the most powerful player there is Li Ka-shing, who is a Teochew originally from the Mainland. And he is the richest person in all of Asia.

Many third world countries around the world respect China because of economy growth and development. Not involved with major wars around the world.

But it's too bad, that Taiwan is struggling with the democracy movement and populist leadership over meritocracy. We are pretty chaotic and not focus. If not, we will achieve many great things.

Taiwan problem, is the same with HK I guess.

Hong Kong is a part of the PRC, where have you been for the last 17 years?

And what Taiwan achieves on its own can never match what China can achieve as a country, even China's currency reserves alone are over $4 trillion.

According to the Taiwanese constitution, and even the current Taiwanese President, both the PRC and the ROC are a part of one single country called China.

Yet some choose to betray their Motherland, and side with the Westerners who want to hurt China's interests. The Mainland is China, tell me do you think the Yellow River runs through Taiwan? Do you think the Huaxia came from Taiwan? Everything that has to do with Chinese history and culture is from the Mainland. That is the land of our ancestors.

This thread mainly talks about HK and the worlds' integration. HK's economy is way more promising than your country Taiwan. Your country is screwed up by China and South Korea FTA. Mainlander, coming from a Taiwanese? It's awkward, you are not Chinese, please, find your place first.

Now I heard that Hongkonger inviting Great Britain back to push China govt on democracy.

Hong Kong is a part of the PRC, where have you been for the last 17 years?

.

Will your China govt plan to share the same level of democracy Hongkongers ( free voting and protesting right ) have with Chinese mainlanders.

One country Two systems. Two systems make the different.

In quality and per capita, Taiwan still win... by large margin.

Communist is Westerner too.

Let me ask you a question, @Kolaps , do you believe that Taiwan would do much better if it were united with the PRC ?

Thanks.

No for now.

Mainland still need decades to change and prove themselves.

The same question to Japanese, Are they willingly to join or form the same bloc with China?

At the present moment, no. Geo-politic places both Japan and China in the opposite side of the table, despite our two - way trade standing at $150 Billion. Tho, political differences don't usually play a role in economic performance (to some degree). Currently, despite some disputes, both sides are firm on increasing economic integration.

You guys will stop boasting this in the next decade.

Oh, I really really want to see.

Can the extreme POOR and BACKWARD people to surpass Taiwan and HK? :disagree:

Can they be more CHINESE as they claimed as the right people to hold China name? Be more Confucian, understand and act according to Chinese culture than those in HK and Taiwan?

A bunch of foreign-worshiper and Confucius-hater communists.

I know who you are talking about, but they surely can't represent all Hongkongers.
