How Much of Indian History Is Really True?

.
Most of our history books are written by a particular ideology driven writers therefore they provide a particular perspective.

Like even when we are in Soviet camp we are taught we were non-aligned and being with US is evil and so on which most of the people actually believes without questioning that when we are so badly dependent on a single country how can we categorized ourselves as non-aligned.

There are multiple examples like that and most of us just take it as truth even after knowing facts very well. Its sad to see analytical skills and questioning dying even in informed people.

lost him at aryan invasion theory... nobody accuses aryans of being more civilized than the natives.. the harappans(now in pakistan) were certainly living in a city/town like dwellings whereas aryans were essentially nomadic tribes. One does not say mongols were more civilized than chinese because they conquered half the known world..
In an effort to counter a narrative(if the allegation is true) the speaker shows insecurities in dealing with our past and tries to build another narrative.. we should be proud/comfortable enough to see the history as it is. Britania was conquered by romans, french, vikings and numerous other tribes, nobody denies that just to feel good.

Indian history begins when east india company fused different states with no commonality together for their own nefarious colonial interests, thankfully our grandfathers split the artificial entity asunder into 3 pieces, with the amount of insurgencies at play in the the largest of the 3 chunks I suspect it will split into a further 21 states.

This is my personal opinion and i think that it doesn't matter from where you start the history, but today India is a large country and it has tremendous influence in the global scheme of things and the reason it has this influence is because of the size of the country. If people spilt the country into many smaller countries then they will loose this influence that they hold collectively.

As long as all the people in the union are treated equally and provided the same opportunities, then they will grow faster. If everyone starts thinking about just their tribes or ethnicity, they they will collectively fall.

your granfathers did not split, british did... your grandfathers demanded to have separate country and they got... fair point to them... ever since that no state in the union succeeded to separate but we added junagarh, hyderabad, part of kashmir, goa(61), french territories and sikkim(1975).
The biggest insurgency group(maoists) dont want division of india.. they want to rule india... rest have been fighting for more than two decades, nothing new.

@Levina , if you have time.., cant speak for facts but will set u thinking
Thanks. Yes, our history didn't began when we started loosing to the foreign invaders.

I'm watching it now.
It's a 2hr long video. Will reply back in some time. :-)
The first 10mins of the video has made me curious already.

PS:
You should have posted the summary of this video as well, not sure many here will have the patience to watch such a long video.

Edit:

Summary of the video:

Sanjeev sanyal talks about how, often, Indian historians mention foreign invaders in their books while ignoring India's jubilant past. What we read in our textbook is nothing but a British interpretation of our history, which goes without saying, is manipulated.
70years after independence we are yet to undo this.

These are the main points he talked about;
1. Battle of Saraighat:
A battle which used gureilla tactics, psychological warfareand military intelligence together to defeat the great Mughals.
This was fought in what is now called ASSAM.
2. BajiRoa's son who ruled an empire bigger than Akbar but may be for a shorter period.
3. Martanda Verma- the ruler who took on the mightiest military of his time, the Dutch. He eventually won the battle against them.
4. Ashoka: The emperor was his main topic of discussion. Ashoka, as is projected in our books, wasnt as kind.
Myths about Ashoka:
a)
Myth- He converted to Buddhism after the battle of Kalinga.
Truth- he did so much before the battle.
b) myth- he took to Buddhism because it was a religion of peace.
Truth- He converted to Buddhism for political reasons. After burning alive the crown prince and massacring his immediate relatives who were Jains or Aajeevika(I hope I got the spelling right), Buddhists were the only ones who might have supported him.
C) Myth- Ashoka stopped massacaring ppl after Kalinga happened.
Truth- He killed 18k ppl after battle of Kalinga.(forgot the name of the place Mr Sanyal mentioned)

5. Ashoka became the hero of socialists in India and they made him Ashoja the great for their own selfish reasons. The socialist he's talking about was Nehru.
IMO, India uses one of the pieces constructed by Ashoka as its national emblem. Then it becomes moral responsibility of the historians to project Ashoka as a good man.

6. Use of Iron- Very recently archeologists, have found that Iron weapons were used in central India much before it was used anywhere else in the world. Sanyal then relates it to how central Indian kings have always been very powerful like the Jalsandhra(pls don't mind my spellings) of Magdha kingdom who was feared by everyone including Krishna. Not that he wanted to bring mythology to the discussion, but what he was alluding to was that (ancient) central Indian kingdoms were most prolly using weaponry made out of metals and ergo were projected as powerful.

Its a long one and has a Q&A starting from middle of it which makes it interesting instead of just lecture.

Speaker tries to impress our british imposed history is bunkum , tries to prove it by questioning the ashoka's greatness based on his historical research. Facts stated and intention of speaker might be debatable but brings home the fact our history is nothing but biased opinion rather than any having factual background with hard evidence.

stop trolling and blabbering about your grandfathers. At least try to know what the topic is before posting jackass comments with no relevance whatsoever.

I am really thankful to your grandfather that they made a call to move away. World is witnessing how good was the decision of your forefather due to which we are at better situation today. I hope that your grandfather would have taken all of their grandkids along with you rather than leaving them as orphan in this land...

Do not bring unrelated things in to this thread for trolling - you have enough Tejas threads in this forum to troll - -
How it is unrelated ? It is quite relative to the thread, don't you ever heard vedic vimman
Planes discovered in Vedic age, it could fly between planets, says speaker at Indian Science Congress
Source: First Post, Wikipedia and many others.

Since i furnish my sources so Kindly remove the negative rating. Even i edited my post to remove Tejas.

India has a large history which no other country has. So obviously newly formed countries and entities with brain-washed false history will definitely be jealous and mock it. Who gave a damn ?

. . .
@Kaptaan ....Sir, How much of Indian history is really true?.....Like to share your opinion/arguments?
Indian history has pre-historic roots and most of the history can't be verified by modern means and same time we can't deny it but only the scientific narration of vedic era can be verified or denied.
