How Japan’s pledge to defend Taiwan against China may tip Asia’s balance of power

Never said it was easy. As an armchair general, I'm just giving my thoughts on how I see a possible war will play out. China have hundreds of long range hypersonic BMs that the QUAD forces have no countermeasures against. If I was the commander of the Chinese forces I would use them all in the first hour of conflict against SEAD targets. How many of those PAC3, THAAD and ships survive past that point is the question. After that the real slugfest begins between the navies and air force. Even then, China can deploy more then the Quad. To add to that China would still have thousands of lower end BMs to throw at targets with weakened air defenses. Hard to imagine a quad victory here.
Have you ever heard LAYERED DEFENSE TERMINOLOGIES???

Japan provoke china by being pro US,but that's situation is also byproduct of Chinese and NK's provocation,a never ending cycle..
If Japan doesn't provoke Russia, than China doesn't provoke Russia either, why doesn't China try to take back mongolia which was torn apart by soviet or demand Vladivostok back seceded by unfair treaty? but only selectively attacks Japanese claimed islands?
There's actually more recorded documnets of Chinese atrocities on Japanese civilians than from the Japanese side u,nless you pull the figures from like nanking massacre ,refuted by Mao himself, those aren't supported by documental records.
Rather tha what's typical respect,Japan sees Russia as absolutely barbaric ,like a wild bear,if you poke a wild bear it will react in barbaric manner,Russia isn't threatning islands already occuped by Japan like the Chinese navy is doing ,in modern political scene the one initiating the infringement of established order is called the provoking side.

China provoking Japan? So does Japan really want to live peacefully with China? Has Japan apologized, compensated or acknowledged the crimes it has committed against China? Did Japan accept the return of the islands it took away from China after the first Sino-Japanese war? Does China interfere in Japan's internal affairs or does Japan interfere in China's internal affairs? If Japan wanted peace with China, why did the two countries normalize relations in 1980, the first thing the Japanese did was send spies to China, stealing China's military secrets?

You deliberately ignore the Sino-Soviet border conflict. From the perspective of the Soviet Union at the time, China was a provocative state. But from China's perspective, they are defending their territory. If China was cowardly and afraid of the Soviet Union, why didn't they cede those parts of the territory to the Soviet Union, on the contrary, they resisted the Soviet Union to the end, resisted the Soviet Union until the Soviet Union collapsed and finally Putin must acknowledge China's sovereignty over those parts of the territory.

You talk about the issue of China massacring Japanese civilians and Mao denies it? You blame China again for some incidents where Chinese people were angry and wanted to take revenge on Japanese civilians in the past? Japan waged war, devastated the entire northeastern region of China, massacred 20-30 million Chinese civilians, organized large-scale genocides such as the Nanjing Massacre, unit 731... and many other crimes. Are Japanese civilians and soldiers really innocent? Who initiated this war? Japan entered China, robbed-burn-rape-kill, until now they still do not compensate, do not apologize, do not acknowledge the crimes they have committed. Comparing what China does and Japan do, who is more brutal and cruel?

China signed a treaty recognizing Russia's sovereignty over those territories. China also recognized Mongolia's independence. But for other territories like Dasmanky, China absolutely does not cede to Russia. At that time, the Soviet Union was a superpower, and China was a 3rd world country, but China dared to oppose the Soviet Union to the end and absolutely did not give up an inch of land. And in the end China won.
The same is true for DiaoYu/Senkaku. China has never recognized it as Japanese territory

Official Development Assistance (ODA) from Japan to China lasted over 25 years and runs into the billions of dollars and you are saying Japan did nothing? truly ungrateful people you are

Japan gave entire Asia many loans from 1960s to 1990s, even today Japan offers very generous terms for loans to many Asian countries

Japan gave billions to China in 1980s some loans some grants, helped establish the Chinese vehicle industry and also helped establish the ports in the coastal city

not to mention the bullet train technology

Japan is a country truly reformed and its shown its a World leader in many core technologies who have helped others dont be so naive

Means after Japan plundered, burned, massacred, and genocide China. They do not apologize, do not compensate, do not acknowledge their crimes, and after all that China should be grateful to Japan for ODA?

If you think China should be grateful to Japan, then by the same logic, if someone burned your house, killed your father, raped your mother, you would also thank them if they were willing to provide financial support along with other conditions, right?

And is ODA really a piece of cake falling from the sky for free? Does it not include any requirements and conditions? And does Japan do it because they love China or because they want to access China's billion-people market?

Hypocrisy and shameless.

And what layer is effective against hypersonic gliders? Not THAAD, not PAC3, not CIWAS.

Explain how the US will deal with the initial onslaught of DF17 and DF26
And KKV is the one and HGV is not invincible at all , hit to kill missile can able to destroy it

Taiwan was given to Japan after Chinese were defeated in 1898 do you know the name of the treaty ?

Taiwan is historically Japanese land culturally and genetically. Native Taiwanese are Okinawans. Japan took back Taiwan from China in Japan China war. Japan took back South Sakhalin from Russia in Japan Russia war. Taiwan and South Sakhalin are genetically Okiwanan and Ainu respectively.

Aso walks back claim Japan would join US in defence of Taiwan if mainland Chinese forces invade
  • Gaffe-prone deputy prime minister had said aggression against the island could be seen as a ‘threat to Japan’s survival’ and that deploying the Self-Defence Forces would therefore ‘not be strange at all’
  • He later backtracked, saying any clashes should be resolved through diplomacy. Beijing issued a stern rebuke, saying Japan’s ‘obsession with Taiwan’ showed it had not learned the lessons of histor

Taro Aso, Japan’s deputy prime minister, on Tuesday appeared to walk back comments he had made the previous day suggesting that Japan’s military would be deployed to assist the United States in the event mainland Chinese forces invaded Taiwan.

Speaking on Monday at a political fundraising event in Tokyo, Aso said aggression against Taiwan could be interpreted as a “threat to Japan’s survival” and lead to the deployment of the Self-Defence Forces to exercise collective self-defence, the term in the constitution that limits the actions of the nation’s armed forces.

One condition for Japan's continued independence is their commitment to the Treaty of San Francisco and renouncing offensive warfare. An invasion of Taiwan by Japan will be rightfully viewed as a return of fascism.

well Chinese mobs can be as lethal , even more lethal

Only Japanese sources were cited. Who knows what the reality is?

8-) Japan likes to play second fiddle in every global war in order to reap the rewards very opportunistic country

so basically THAAD...
current THAAD can not deal with HGVs. There are some concept for upgrade into THAAD-ER but that's only a ppt.
No KKV is not use by THAAD, THAAD is a hit to kill INTERCEPTOR, Mid course ABM system is using KKV, and there is way to predict HGVs changing trajectories, BY USING MUTIPLE RADARS, then INTERCEPTING WILL BE EASY
