We all know about this incident but what I liked most about this video was Gen.Sam Manekshaw's interaction with the soldiers. Now I know why he was so famous.
This is the first time I have seen him in flesh and blood. :)
General Manekshaw's interaction with the frtonline troops was great- that playful punch was indicative of a good leader who respected his men.

It's sad that India has let its positive contributions like this go forgotten- protecting both the PA soldiers and Bengalis who had been part of the civil administration.

Not many militaries in the world would be so magnanimous- go into a foreign land, topple the leadership, take prisoners of war back to their country, restore law and order where possible and then withdraw entirely.

Indeed a great general he was @levina . Great to see this video once again after long time. Thanks

Sometimes...i feel that someone from Pak Army of GOv double crossed their country...Otherwise...How is it possible thar an army of 90000 people just surrender just like that without much fighting...I mean India is not even so powerful like any other powerful military power at that time...So more or less India and Pakistan was militarily equal at 1971...

It wasn't even 90k soldiers about half of that number were actual military personnel the rest were civil employees of the Pakistani government and their families. Actual number of soldiers is between 45k-50k.

We should have let the Bangladeshis have a go at them, After Simla Agreement and all the promises what did Pakistan do again it stabbed us in the back and our Nation suffers even till now due to its terrorists.

Decency, courtesy should only be shown to those who are equal in character,You don't show sympathy, courtesy to those who will eventually stab you in the back.
Screw protection we should have left them to the lynch mob of bangladeshis,
