Though I have never been to Pakistan but my opinion is based on interactions with my Pakistani friends in the Gulf = U.A.E / Bahrain / Qatar + also some very good friends from Pakistan in Malaysia & Singapore.
My take is that they are very rational and justly emotional in almost everything that they do. Like I would be or any of my friends from India would be. Even during our Indo-Pak discussions, I feel that they have a good grasp of the ground realities. No dis-respect to our platform here but the discourse of some of our Pakistani friends on this forum does not even come close to what my experience and impression is from these personal friends (may be because we do not know each other personally) and they are all pretty successful in their chosen professions and always quite rational in their perspectives and the mere focus is to do better in life and to provide better for their families. They regret over the unfortunate happenings between our countries and we have discussions on how can things be improved considering the limitations of our respective countries.
But we jeer each other on cricket and everything funny and I know that the next time I am meeting them, I am gonna have to face quite a bit of music due to our Ms. Mirza deciding to get married with Mr. Malik. Honestly I had my share of fun on this when the news of his first marriage in Hyderabad came out and the fiasco that followed. So all is fair.
And of course in the end we get drunk and wasted......
