How do pashtuns or balochs react if a Punjabi asks for their girl or boy in marriage

But this is not a scientific subject to be analysed. This is a social norm, and can be directly observed. In India too people are slowly opening to inter-caste marriages. In Pakistan, because of feudalism and lot of other issues, marriages between Punjabis and Pusthuns are even rarer and if a marriage happens, then both families and bride & groom have to pay a heavy price.

Punjabi-Pashtun and Pashtun-Punjabi Racism and Hatred in Pakistan | Freedom from the Forbidden

Blogs wouldn't tell you the reality son. But yes, most Punjabis and Pashtuns do not intermarry, but from what I've observed Baloch and Pashtuns are relatively lax when it comes to marrying women from other ethnic groups, but quite strict about "giving" their own women. Like I've seen even influential land owning Pashtun men from rural backgrounds having married Punjabi or Sindhi women.

With that said, there are always exceptions even in a rural setting. For example, the Nawab of Kalabagh, who happened to be a Potohari Awan and a big landlord married a woman from the family of a Baloch tribal chief.

But in our case- I can speak for Punjabi and Potohari land owning and rural based rajputs- both marrying our women to other ethnic groups as well as marrying theirs is considered a huge taboo, and whoever marries his womenfolk to non-rajputs is more or less shunned and labelled beghairat. Similarly, a half rajput male is also not considered a real rajput, and most folk wouldn't wed their daughters to one. We take great pride in blood purity and put major emphasis on it. Baloch or Pashtun tau door ki baat hai, even intermarrying with our co-linguists like Jatts and Gujjars is considered bad and is deeply shunned.

We should have just said that the Pashtun and Baloch would get really pissed off, start a violent separatist movement and secede from Pakistan alleging Punjabi something or the other ...genocide ... forced demographic change ... love jihad ... that was the answer the OP was looking for wasn't it?

In Pakistan color doesnt play important role its more social. and normally middle class have this problem.. people with less money just want to get their kids married and they also have limited resourses ..same as riches they doesnt care about any race barrier as long as both are well off..
where middle class look at education, job, family background whos their relatives, if they have house of their own so many things 100 of things positives but one small mistakes can lead to rejection :)..
this is our trouble.. marriage sud be easy and divorce sud be hard.. its opposite

Come on kid, one of my uncle is married in Pastun family we haven't paid any price, also Inter marriage is common in educated peoples from both sides because most of times Pastun women are not able to speak any other language then Pashtu and if a Punjabi wishes to marry a Girl from NWFP heartland then first he will have to learn Pashtu.
Come on dont take him seriously you know he is ito The Great Troller even his own countrymen dont take him seriously.

Depends which form of society yr from. In lower classes and lower middle classes they dont do. But in upper middle class and upper class its quit common not only for ethnic but there is no much care for sect thingy as well Shia Sunni. The more the educated and awareness the more broad minded and practical people are in my country regardless of ethnicity or sect.

Its the norms of backward people who care for ethnicity or sectarian divide. The more people are backward and less aware of the realities the more inclined they are in ethical and sectarian divisions.

Pakistan is different, we're not as racist towards each other, nor do we have those issues of not being able to mingle with people from other places. If you look at the big cities especially, they're a melting pot of people from everywhere.

My own and my extended family includes, Pathans, Punjabis, Kashmiris from both AJK and traced back to Jammu, also Sindhis and a few Urdu speaking Pakistanis too.

Inter-marriage is increasing amongst Pakistanis, but is very common amongst expat communities.
Attitudes are changing and most Pakhtuns would be accepting of a hardworking, devout and able son in law from another background.
