How do I create friendship with a kitten that just came to my house to hunt the rats ?

my friend tried 2 befriend a stray cat ...it got really close 2 her and then 1 night as she lay sleeping in bed it slashed her face and slit her neck with its claws. hope that doesnt scare u off cats

So many cat haters on this thread.

Cats can be as just a good friend as a Dog. I've had both. Cats are just a little bit more independent and more vocal if they don't like what you are doing to them.

Just feed it, don't try and force pet it. Let it smell your hand etc first and get used to your smell. But when it does get used to you, don't go near another cat as they get jealous very quickly.

Really cant stand the weird things.

We have a garage roof full of them (many generations of "Daisy" and her kids) which my kids feed.

Just the other day one of them fell off the roof and was finished in seconds by my dogs (I have 5, plus we feed about 3-4 more who live further away in our compound).

Drive into the compound to find a major funeral going on ...

I have seen Dogs give up their lives for their Humans.
Fight off Bears,Cougars,Crocodiles,etc.

So we had some rat problem in our home so a cousin brought a kitten for us so that it could eat rats .
But that kitten is actually cute and I want to create friendship but I'm very scared to touch it .
It runs after me whenever sees me and I'm really scared , but I get its harmless maybe it's little and runs after every human it sees and is actually following us to get out of the house . Might be missing his mom or is scared over here .
I want to have it as a pet , how do I create friendship with it ? I'm scared of animals .

Offers some thing to eat, egg or a chicken/ meat piece,

Initially it wont cone to you, show food, and throw near it
Once she had eaten, then throw second piece a little closer ,
Repeat this in loop until she is very close,
Offer last piece by leaning towars it and stretching your hand (keep your hand on floor) , it will come and pick food and run away,

then keep feeding it from your hand,

If it is a small kitten your can hold it after some time, put it in your lap let it play with your arms ,
Initially for few day it will fer you, it will be difficult to catch and it will run away as soon as you leave it.

Try playing with it with by throwng a TT ball / ping ong ball or bringing a pieece of rope near it and taking away from it.

Remember Feeding, playing , feeding, playing, repeat
in a couple if days it will get comfortable around you

Poor cat, that's the natural order of things I guess and I don't doubt dogs are loyal and intelligent companions, but there is something about a snobby, arrogant fur ball that struts around as the ruler and scratches you if you pet it too roughly that I find quite funny and endearing.

Always had both dogs and cats back home though, never felt discriminating one over the other.

Wasn't a cat. Was the smallest of her kittens, who probably went too close to the edge. They learn quickly.

Very simple just gave her a nice boy friend and big giant pit bull they love cats

Give it fresh clean water and a bit of mince meat.

Cats shouldn't be drinking milk past a certain age as they don't do so in wild. Don't know why people feed cats milk (& roti & whatnot) as it does more harm than good in long run.

@Sher Shah Awan 's advice is good.

Don't be scared of it. If the kitten gets bad 'vibes' from you, it'll avoid you.

As for 'friendship', each cat is different so don't fret over this. Cats are very picky animals.

Being a doctor, kindly shed some scientific evidence to substantiate the above statement. I have had cats since childhood (and a few dogs here and there) and cat is a far cleaner animal by a big margin, with far less diseases.
