How did Jammu and Kashmir become a part of India? 9 facts on Accession Day

I think most of the thinking members can agree that to quote @waz our leaders in 1947 "royally messed up". There is much to learn from this, so that we can learn from our mistakes. You strike when the iron is hot. We did not and rest is history. So where do we go fro m here. My thoughts -

  • We must never accept LOC as border under any circumstances
  • We place the problem as something that tenacity and time will resolve
  • We make sure we extract the maximum loss to India in every way we can short of war
  • We must not launch any crazy military attacks like Kargil etc
  • We must accept that there is no military solution. We are simply too small.
  • We must focus all our energy on developing Pakistan economically
  • We must use CPEC to connect with the wider region on our west and north
  • We must deny India any trading links to regions of our west and north this causing opportunity loss
  • We must honour the tribal Pashtuns and Kashmiri's who collectively are the only people to have gained land for Pakistan.

Meanwhile India is setting up military bases in the same regions you would like to block our way to.

You cannot contain India.

You can only join back. At least try.

Or you will eventually descend further into mediocrity bordering a failed state.

Cheers, Doc

The reasons why it would not have escalated was because like Pakistan, India also had its hands full on becoming a new nation which included, restoring public order, resettling partition refugees, putting in place services to avoid the people starving and so on.
Had the order been given it would have been a different story. You are right about the ethnic Kashmiris not wanting to fight, something the soldiers of the AKRF never forgot or forgave.

You are probably right, that's why they should have sent army. Was best time to do so, more then 1965 or 99. In 1965 it escalated but India failed to invade anyway despite advantage in numbers.

.
Jammu and Kashmir never became a part of India. United Nations says Kashmir is disputed territory.

Bollocks. 1965 was lost because of failure to second guess Indian counter attack on Lahore in event of Jammu being threatened by PA. A few traitors in Kashmir can't be reason for defeat in war.
We also lost the 1962 Sino-Indian war opportunity. We could have won Indian occupied Kashmir from India during that time.

With all due respects, please be prepared for the repercussions elsewhere where it matter Pakistan the most. After-all every action has an opposite reaction. And this is war, so I guess everything is fair. :azn::azn::azn:

MeawhiMea India is setting up military bases in the same regions you would like to block our way to.
When we were young kids we used to play this gamne of 'keeps'. If we spat on a place that ground become our 'keeps'. This is exactly what you are applying to the silly little base in Tajikistan or Kirghiztan is it? We all know Central Asia for now is Russian sphere of influence but you can bet your last rupee that Central Asia will be a Chinese parking lot. That is a given. The proximity to China and Chinese economic miracle means Central Asia is already heading to be a Chinese parking lot. You can continue of course to dream of your military base - because that is best you will get. Frankly even wityh Pakistan and India working together we could not prevent Chinese ascendancy in Central Asia. But with Pakistan blocking off India you stand zero chance. Do continue your Chah Bahar fantasy please.

You cannot contain India.
We can't. We leave that to China but we can act as spolier on the west. Our geography enables us to do that.

You can only join back
How can we join 'back' when we were never part of Indian Republic. We are both children of the parent - British Raj. Go call the British back and install this [below] flag. Then we will see.

Pakistan is no more failed state then India. Interesting to look at how Peshawar street in Pakistan and Gorakhpur street in India look like. Peshawar has suffered from the fall out of the 9/11. Gorakhpur on the other hand is in success India. Frankly is there is differance other than Gorakhpur having poor Indian's being used as draught animals/ Failed ... Mmmmm???

Do you see differance between success and failure on the street??? If anything India is more filthier, chaotic and uglier iteration of Pakistan.

Or perhaps you might want to call the Moghuls back. Then we could again discuss forming Moghul Empire V2. Raise the Moghul flag??

Gorakhpur is one of most economically backward districts of India! Peshawar is what Pakistan's 3rd or 4th largest city? Fair comparison

Peshawar has been devastated by war and terrorism. Your countryman mentioned 'failed' and no city in Pakistan has suffered more from the terrorism and thus earned the moniker failed as Peshawar. Smaller towns in Pakistan tend to be more cleaner then the larger ones. Shall I post shining Kolkata then?
