the true leader of african independence in the last four decades was muammar gaddafi... remember the various recent projects of libyan jamahiriya like gold dinar, united states of africa, a africa development "sovereign wealth fund" with main offices in cameroon and sirte... this is other than green support since the 70's for various african liberation movements, especially the one of african national congress and nelson mandela.

for egypt, it depends on the political situation with "arab investors" ( gcc, most likely )... it is one thing for a business association to say something, it is another thing for that to be politically realized.

but the basis of this thread should be corrected... rather than india look for outside farm-land, there should be massive "urban farming" effort undertaken immediately, similar to what venezuela has been doing in the recent years... within the next five years, "vertical farms" should be set up in cities at neighborhood-level and all those youth engaged in the useless sector ( software companies of bangalore/pune/madras/hyderabad, the financial companies etc ) should be re-engaged into agriculture.

We are responsible for our own fates. I don't blame India's present condition of poverty on the British. I blame us Indians. It has been 70 years, we should start taking responsibility.
