Holbrooke’s Last Words: ‘Stop War In Afghanistan’

I think Holbrooke should be the end of America's epecial envoys to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Holbrook's last words are more words of advice on Pakistan's need to stop it's proxy war in Afghanistan, but then again, Pakistan has more invested in it than any other party.

Why should it listen unless there is no other choice?

This is the better question: What needs to happen so that Pakistan can stop what it is doing?

The clear answer would be that every other party needs to stop as well.

However, that will not happen easily or quickly.

RIP... I thank him for his honest words.

The late Holbrooke said the right thing at last breath of his life...

Americans please stop killing us.
Amazing! It's as if Richard Holbrooke's words were never uttered!

Okay...this is the context. There is doubt even if the doctor was a Pakistani to begin with

The Context of Ambassador Richard Holbrooke's final words - Political Punch

"There was a, you know, lengthy exchange with Ambassador Holbrooke and the medical team, probably reflecting Richard's relentless pursuit of the policy that he had helped to craft and was charged by the president and the secretary with carrying out," Crowley said.

"At one point the medical team said: You've got to relax. And Richard said: I can't relax; I've got -- I'm worried about Afghanistan and Pakistan. And then after some additional exchanges, you know, the medical team finally -- finally said: Tell you what; we'll try to fix this challenge while you're undergoing surgery. And he said: Yeah, see if you can take care of that, including ending the war," he said.

A senior administration official also cautions against reporting that the comments were directed towards a doctor because he was of Pakistani descent. In fact, the official said the doctor may have been Indian or Egyptian, though we're told there were multiple doctors of South Asian descent in the room.

Why do i have a feeling that the guilt of war took a toll on his life?

His level of dedication to Afghan Pak affairs tells that it he knew the inside story well and sorting this mess was probably the biggest psychological strain on his persona.

Holbrooke is the one that made Pak Army launch pretty much all the operations against militants since 2008. He infact flew in when there was a peace accord signed with the militants, and he made all the political leaders to revoke those peace deals (shariffs and legharis and mqm/anp).

He infact initiated the war in pakistan and made Pak a significant partner in the Afghan war by putting entire political parties on the CIA's payroll. Namely the PPP/MQM.

He also successfully converted the Bush all out war on Afghanistan into a war against the Pashtun's on both sides of the border. He gave lots of leeways to non-pashtun tribes, allowed the growth of opium and drug trade, and punished the pashtuns for crimes they didn't commit.

This clever warmonger goes in the dustbin of history and will certainly not be remembered by millions.

Another pupet will be already in place carrying on where the old timer left its a conveyor belt of brain washed diplomats :agree:
