What's new

Hmong tribe, the loser to ancient Hua-Xia until they reach S.E Asia and still continue losing.

Nihonjin, I think you misunderstood me. There are an increasing number of Christians among Hmong.

I know Christians are not bad, but in VN there are always people who take advantages of Christians belief, often to use them against the govt. VN has seen serveral cases in which the church refuse to return the land to the govt, saying it was God's land. Or there are stories passed around about how believing in God help cure diseases, from fatal diseases to cancer or even HIV/AIDS. I personally heard one story over a Christian radio channel about how a 3 year old cured from HIV as her family pray to God everyday in 3 months. Ridiculous, right?

It's not just at your Vietnam case. It happened everywhere, including China.

They obey foreign government, to disobey infidel government of Vietnam. <-- WTF!

They pretend to be "a victim", but once they gain power, they will burn down all Vietnamese temples, culture and tradition down to extiction. They will rewrite the history of Vietnam as well. But they still claimed as the victim.

Chinese people are very familiar with it.

Just be careful. It's better if your government oppress and convert them back.

This post speaks volume of your mores and ethos. :coffee:

For the sake of Vietnam and whole East Asia.

Some people in this world are selfish and aggressive. Disrespect local culture and tradition around the world.

That became the biggest problem in the world right now.

That's your view, and I respect your right to share your view. But let me be clear that I disagree with this generalization.

Take Care.

It's not just a view, but a reality on the ground.

Religion is a tool of colonialism.

Since you are a Japanese, does it ring a bell to you?

Those Christian Vietnamese are trying to sell Vietnam to foreign country, that is why they disobey Vietnamese government, even hold anti-government protests and movements. Do you think "disobey" a nature of a Christian around the world? Or just in case of Vietnam and in other anti-Western countries?

As a Chinese, we already experienced and paid it in huge sum.

Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Do you know the importance of this verse from Mark?

There are peculiarities and even outliers in every group, @xesy . You and I know very well that much of the science , especially medical science has been developed to the degree that it is seen today through the research paved by Prussian (German), French, British and American physicians, pharmacologists. And there is a high degree of probability that these western scientists were raised in Christian households, considering Christianity being the dominant religion in the west, especially during the 18th, 19th and 20th century and to the present.Yet that did not play an inhibitory effect on their contribution(s) to Medicine and Medical Science.

I empathize with your concern when hearing here-says about Christian groups saying a child being healed through non-scientific and non-medical measures.

That said, some 8% of Viet Nam's population are Christian, mostly Roman Catholic. And I am sure the majority of these Viet Namese are law abiding, citizens of Viet Nam. Let not lower our upper outliers paint one's view of the entire majority. Remember, outliers are statistically insignificant and cannot be generalizable to the larger population sample/ pool.

Best Regards,
I never hate any Christians, only people who take advantages of Christians belief.

You may already know about it but communists are atheists. They don't believe in higher power and they don't want other to believe. So VN, a communist country, often takes some extreme actions against religious groups. Many Hmong oppression incidents in VN related to Christian somehow.

The Christian View

All governments are an institution of God, as is marriage, the family, and the church. If you don't pay your taxes, you are resisting God and incur judgment on yourself. God ordains all governments for the preservation of society. It is a sin not to pay all your taxes. You are to submit to your government. Even though some governments are evil, they are better than no government at all because having no government leads to anarchy. The government is designed by God for the protection of the good and the punishment of the evil. And if you do what is right, you will fulfill the will of God. God has given the government the right to punish evil doers. Policemen, soldiers, and all those in authority stand in the place of God for the preservation of society.

b) 1 Peter 2:13-17 said, "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether it be to the king, as supreme, or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by them for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well-doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men; as free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king." God wants Christians to be models of virtue and integrity in society.

c) 1 Timothy 2:1-3 --Paul said, "I exhort, therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men, for kings, and for all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior."

Relevance:

Christians, by virtue of their faith , are taught to obey the very governments that have authority. In fact, Christians are taught not to rebel and go against authority. In the Christian faith, the importance is placed on civil duty, acts of righteousness.

@Nihonjin1051 , What is your comment on the statement :" God is always right. Father (the priest) speaks the word of God so he is also always right."?

.
First off the battle of Zhuolu belongs to myth and should not be used as history.

It also would be unfair to label all Miao groups as having one homogeneous origin.

Ancient texts usually link Chiyou with the Jiuli while other link him with Shaohao,Yandi and Taihao(Fuxi?).

Both Ying Zheng and Liu Bang worshiped Chiyou are we going to argue both of these men are Miao?

Even the common people worshiped Chiyou as an exorcist in the Zha festival of the Zhou and the La festival of the Han during the New Year.

The Wu family shrine of modern day Shandong also depict Chiyou.

If anything Miao and Koreans are latecomers trying to hijack Han mythology.

My personal viewpoint?

As the saying goes, "Veritas vos Liberabit"

As East Asians, why should people follow the semitic and European religion?I respect the Christians, but I strongly against East Asians follow or convert to Christianity, because this religion is alien to our culture, and as far as I know, non of my ancestors Christians, accord to the Christian view, all my ancestors will be in hell,so even the hell and heaven exist,I prefer to live in hell with my ancestors

This is the misconception that people have. In the Christian view, Divine Providence is ever merciful and all encompassing.

For me, I am truly amazed by Semitic culture and the Semitic religion(s): Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

If one studies the very concepts of Confucianism, it is complementary with these semitic religions.

I fear that we have divulged too far away from the topic of this thread. Let's re-orient ourselves back to the Hmong.

Thanks.

the Hmong live in mountainous north of Vietnam. their appearance is totally different to the Viet. we call them "moi", barbarians.

Yeah, as a communist , I love this idea from my Master Karl Max:"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of souless conditions. It is the opium of the people" 8-)

But Buddhism is OK with VN coz its quite friendly, as I know Buddha never say that hes a God or son of God. He just help people to find out peaceful soul in their minds
