What's new

History Made - Russian Spymaster visits Pakistan, gets access to Gwadar Port.

. .
Interesting development. So besides the Syrian port, now they will gradually get a foothold in the Indian Ocean via Pakistan? Their presence in Pakistan will surely affect the calculus of Indian strategy against Pakistan. But why not choose an Indian port??? Hmm...
Eventually India will allow Russians to Chabahar too once it gets operationalised & same way Russia will sign such agreement.. Not a big concern. As US has backed off from Pakistan Russians are just using this opportunity & also gaining international support for Syria.
Russia wouldn't gain much but the biggest winner is Pakistan here if implemented properly.

That is a very positive move. Later after peace deal in afghanistan, the western route of cpec can be extended through afghanistan to russia. similarly we can extend the road network from gwadar to iran and up to turkey and europe. Its a win win for every sane country in the region. We will definitely not discuss jealous bitches india and arab countries :D :P
.

Mate, have to admit you have very good strategic sights.

The Russians, with their presence, should calm down both Pakistan & India in some way. If they invest heavily in CPEC, then perhaps, India will be more open to participating too, lets hope so...

I am not sure how useful Gwadar is for Russia despite hearing about the news of warm water one of the key cause for Russia's intervention into Afghanistan.

Russia is too far from Pakistan and there are only few states of Russia which can really benefit from Gwadar. They are welcome to invest in Pakistan and be part of CPEC however the trade route of CPEC is economically not viable for Russia. They would have imported oil from middle east but they already have it in abundance so what exactly are they going to transport from Gwadar... not very much if nothing
I agree totally. What are they going to do? Export Russian Vodka to Saudia Arabia?

Most people here seem to be blissfully unaware what Gwadar is about. The anwser lies within not without.

*Or are Russian Oligarchs going to live in Gwadar soak the sunshine with their Yachts, racy women, bars and gambling?

.
did I make fun of you? I have said that via Kazakhstan, Russia will access CPEC. looking at the world map CPEC will also have links with Russia as there are no other viable routes to warn seas for Russia.
Not you but there were some members who made fun of me.

That can bring Gwadar at par with Monaco, I wouldn't mind that certainly.

Remember even if ever Chabahar gets developed, it is not your PORT, it belongs to Iran and you will only be their operating. Gwadar Belongs to Pakistan and will be with us forever. I don't want to go down to elucidate why Gwadar as a port is way better than it's sister port Chabahar.

That's not a joke. You have a great point there. This example of out of box thining' that Pakistan needs.

I would actually mark out 4 miles by 1 mile strip adjacent to Gwadar ( on the west side) along the beach. Then build a 10 feet high concrete wall with appropriatre trench in front of it. Then have two entry control points. Then I would hand that 'Golden Strip' to Chinese on a 66 year lease. Let them do what they want there. Within decade you could have 'Golden City' that sells itself as gambling resort on the Arabian Sea. Rich Arabs, Russians, Chinese would flood the place.

You would have Pakistan's 'Monte Carlo' on the Arabian Sea.

*That would then also act like a turbocharger for Gwadar City.
