History Made - Russian Spymaster visits Pakistan, gets access to Gwadar Port.

This thread emphasized how this forum would look like if the trolls across rhe border were never here. A heaven. :p :p :p

What I worry about is that can we keep up with the pace of CPEC. The Chinese went from zero to super power in the blink of an eye. No hesitation. We on the other hand are different. Confused, over thinking and often entrenched in our own fighting. I mean look the DTH. It was supposed to come in 2003 and its 2016.

Can we keep up with the pace of CPEC and what it demands? We can't have any hesitation nor any infighting here. This is our last and best shot. We need to make it count.

This looks old but published a few days ago ... doesn't mention CPEC agreement though ... but one gets the 'burn'

Agreed. Which is why Pakistan's relationship until recent time was strictly business. Go find out how many of Pakistan's elite moved to China to live there? Now compare all the Pakistani's in USA. You really think Pakistan could have kept the West if she had joined the Russian camp? Not a chance in hell. You think our sardars, maulanas would have bought houses or sent their kids to Moscow in 1960s or 1950s?

The Chinese embrace was not at the expense of the West. Indeed Pakistan/China/USA got together against Soviet Russia. In short in 1960s you either would go West~China or Soviet Russia. You would not have both of them.

That famous approach by Nixon's America with China and Pakistan in middle was against Russia. How exactly would you have played the Chinese and then kept Soviet Russia?

In short our elite lived/dined/sent their young to the West (many others like me and millions of othes including many members here migrated to the West under this umbrella) but kept a very strict business like dealing with China. Contact was limited to top officials.

Now things are about to change. China/Pak relationship is going mult-idimentional. Gwadar is about to open both countries and we will see how both get on. Somebody is going to have to adjust and I know who that is going to be.
Pakistanis are people who were living and continue to live in an economically weak country. Most migrants are economic migrants seeking to live lives financially better. In this regard Russia nor China until recently had the capacity to entertain these economic migrants as they themselves are not economically great though they are comparatively far stronger economically than Pakistan. That is why the west is favored by Pakistanis, because it is liberal internally and provides an opportunity economically for us to advance for which we should be grateful.

However this does not have to do with relations. Iran has a horrific relationship with the west but thousands of Iranians are present in Canada and US. At times China and America have not seen through the same prism yet Chinese are one of the largest groups emigrating to US. Does it have to do with relations? It has to do with the prevalent economy and its success. Pakistanis similarly go to KSA and UAE and are the biggest immigrant demographic. These countries do not even have as much freedom compared to west. But they are economically strong. In short people move to countries that give them economic power. Turkey too is secular while Pakistan is constantly under control of arrogant mullahs but we have a good relationship

Relations between nations need not be based on such a premise of economic equality. These relations can survive even if their are extreme differences, including economic. In my eyes an equal relationship with Russia won't hurt. We should seek to improve ties with Russia. It will be better than having our region being used to fight the Soviets and then being ignored and becoming the bastion of terror groups. For this fight we only got the Presler Amendment from US and favoring of India by US. I think there needs to be thought given to improving relations with Russia

Why rusaia wants to join gawader ? a question :-\
Cold War is over

Why Syria is so important for Russia .... ???

plz try to analysis it at your own end

one of my old post
No Sir neither first Afghan war was a mistake nor the current 'IS' ... just open the map & plot

- Kurdistan Region (current & Historical claims)
View attachment 244844

- IS captured positions in Iraq & Syria
View attachment 244845
- Regions in which IS has establish its presence (Libya, Sinai region of Egypt & Yemen)

Current Regional Situation

- Turkey (A 'NATO' country) is involved in military campaign in Syria
- Iran is involved in Iraq
- KSA is involved in Yemen
- Egypt is involved in Sinai & to an extent in Libya

Who so ever is behind all this have two very clear objectives

- Exhaust the Resources of the Region ...
- Second disturb the Logistics Routes ... both are the STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

Now discount yourself from this region (for time being)

Analysis the 'current & expected' political events in Baltic & Black sea regions ...

- Now connect the developments of both regions so that you can conclude their POLITICAL & ECONOMIC impact on Global scale ... (read the map from far east to Baltic Sea region)

Below is one of those Indian posts in an earlier thread of Russia joining CPEC ...

Critical time to assure protection of GB area as that's where Indians are likely to adventure directly next. Rapidly increased LOC violations may just be a preface of this adventure to come.

You are acting childish. Indians have no objection to CPEC. What Indians have objections are that it cannot pass through GB. I am sure if it passes through GB, Indian government will not allow it to complete or even it is completed and goes though GB, Indian government will make sure it doesn't function properly.

The best idea is Pakistan government look for alternative route such as one through Afghanistan

That's not a joke. You have a great point there. This example of out of box thining' that Pakistan needs.

I would actually mark out 4 miles by 1 mile strip adjacent to Gwadar ( on the west side) along the beach. Then build a 10 feet high concrete wall with appropriatre trench in front of it. Then have two entry control points. Then I would hand that 'Golden Strip' to Chinese on a 66 year lease. Let them do what they want there. Within decade you could have 'Golden City' that sells itself as gambling resort on the Arabian Sea. Rich Arabs, Russians, Chinese would flood the place.

You would have Pakistan's 'Monte Carlo' on the Arabian Sea.

*That would then also act like a turbocharger for Gwadar City.

Beaches of Baluchistan are very tasty indeed. People living in Pakistan got no clue what they got. People spend fortune to be around the "lake" called Mediterranean. Still waters , no fun. We got 24*7 sun , sandy, flat beaches with proper waves, as far as you can see , and most importantly, warm waters of Arabian sea which wont freeze your balls. Leave Gawadar for trade and economy, there many unexplored beaches in Baluchistan which are truly remarkable.

Has PDF been officially banned in India?

Pakistani elite - no idea how many damned times I am going to have to repeat this preferred the WEST. Jinnah preferred the WEST. Liaqat preferred the WEST. Ayub Khan preferred the WEST. Almost all of Pakistani elite in 1950s, 60s, 70s got educated in the WEST and often would get jobs in the WEST. Some would do stints in government in Pakistan and then spend time in the WEST. Ordinary Pakistani's just followed the pattern set by the elite - go WEST.

Had the Pakistani left - socialists taken over Pakistan, for example had Rawalpindi Consipracy taken off and a left leaning government taken over than a relationship with Russia would have taken root like with PDPA in Afghanistan. Instead the leftists were wiped out and a right wing, religious, landlords. bourgoise class took Pakistan WEST.

"The Rawalpindi Conspiracy (also known as the Rawalpindi Conspiracy Case) was an attempted Soviet-backed coup d'état against the government of Liaquat Ali Khan, the first Prime Minister of Pakistan, in 1951. The conspiracy was the first of many subsequent coup attempts against elected governments in the history of Pakistan.[1] The coup was planned by Major-General Akbar Khan, a senior commander in the Pakistani army, in conjunction with other military officers and left-wing Pakistani politicians.[1]
