So who voted for Pakistan if it was not Pakistan themselves. Note from the picture below that there were zero Invalid votes and zero abstentions. So all 188 votes were casted and counted.

Yeah... 188 members had to vote... But the total number of votes casted were. ??? 185+183 + 182 +1+1 = Far more than 188.
So there issome weird voting system going on here.
Members probably can cast more than one votes.

Of course. There are openings for 3 seats so it should be 188 times 3 = 564 (total votes)

Yeah... So all 188 voters could vote for existing members or a new one. Someone voted for Pakistan . That still doesn't mean Pakistan contested or was interested in retaining the seat of an unknown UN organization.

I think that is what puzzles everyone.

Why was Pakistan on the ballot if Pakistan was not interested in seeking re-election.

May be Pakistan changed its mind midway and the due date for withdrawal may have already passed by then?

But who may have voted for Pakistan? May be India has voted for Pakistan to give opportunity for people to troll here?

So Pakistan was not contesting for the seat but was still seeking re-election?
And as far as the 183 votes and india winning the seat, seems true.
Pakistan getting one vote and losing also seems true based on the above quote.

Now Pakistan FO is just trying to escape embarrassment by saying they were not even contesting, just like students who fail in exams say that they did not even appear.

What embarrassment? This UN seat isn't that important as NSG for you. It hardly impacts us. Yeah it can be good for India. Might build some toilets or something.
