In India Buddhism is considered as a part of Hinduism and there is no discrimination against its followers. Hindus do visit the Buddhist temple with same faith as their own temple. Basically there is no ideological difference between the two.
The Dharma religions of India some way or the other are inspired by the Vedic texts, Hinduism Sikhism Jainism Buddhism share a lot of things

no, those are folk stories. Most Chinese regard them as entertaining stories, but no. We don't believe that we descended from Snake people.

Religion in China is something of a side hobby for most people. East Asians in general don't take religion all that seriously. It's not in the culture.

If I visit a church. I pray to the god/
If I visit a buddism temple. I pray too.
If sometime I visit India, I will pray also to indias god.

but serously I only pray to the God of Wealth.

One of those statements cannot be true.

Which is it?
If Hinduism does not seek converts then you cannot say Buddhism is part of Hinduism.
If Buddhism is part of Hinduism then that means that Hindus do indeed seek converts

Also, if Hindus are content with being in India then how did Hinduism spread to South East Asia?
Obviously someone had to go there and inform those people about your religion.

It's all so confusing to an outsider.

Hindus in India do not wear religion in their sleeves as well.. Most of the youngsters visit temples once in a while only the aged people are regular visitors to temples and take part in some Satsangs (preaching sessions)..

But most of us respect Hinduism and that's about it.. Also, being Hindus we are partly Buddhist as well because I still have to figure out a way to dissect Buddhas teachings from the Hinduism being followed in India or around the world..

A other point - Hinduism is not a strict religion.. You can be an atheist and still a Hindu..

Hinduism and Buddhism has more or less same concepts so considered by many as branch of Hinduism.. Also many consider Buddha as dasham avatar of Vishnu.. But that being said, no body is asking Buddhist to convert..

Hinduism in South East Asia and other places spread due to trade and people travelling to various places and settling down there.. Just how it reached American shores and Europen shores.. No forced conversions which is the core strength of other newly formed religions..

Put it to you this way, Hinduism is not one religion but one huge web of interrelated religions. Buddhism is a parallel school of thought which can be considered an off-shoot of religious and spiritual traditions already existing in that region at that time.

Hinduism has spread by both conquest and trade. Those Tamil kings who conquered Sumatra and Java left behind their religion and culture. Till today Indonesia shows a heavy Indian influence.

Technically speaking the main difference between Buddhism and Hinduism, Buddhism doesn't follow the Vedas unlike Hinduism.

Hindus in general see Buddhism as a part of Hinduism as Lord Buddha is worshiped as an avatar of Lord Vishnu, and ancient Hindus in the later stage of the life practicing variants of Buddhism or Jainism as ascetic or penance.


One example is King Chandragupta Maurya , who in later days gave up his kingdom and wealth and practiced Jainism

Same way Islam spread to South East Asia
Sea trade.

Sure u can. Depends on where u live though. We don't really have a central authority per se that lays down the rules and says you have a certain set of requirements to fulfill if you are Hindu. The knowledge is there, scriptures are available, gurus are there, temples are there, you decide how you want your spiritual growth to be. That's how we look at things.

In my country Hinduism is very tolerant and non-discriminatory. I can't speak for those other places with Hinduism like India and Sri Lanka.
