A Muslim Engineer named Younus from Crescent Engineering College made a headline in a Tamil newspaper for helping to rescue the flood victims. He swam and rescued a non Muslim woman from a dangerously stranded place and moved her to a safe spot. The woman was suffering from labour pain at the time and by the grace of Allah delivered the baby safe.

As a mark of gratitude to Younus for saving their lives, the parents Mohan and Chitra have named their newborn son ‘Younus’.

Why do you think Kamal "Hassan" has got "Hassan" as his last name ? His Brahmin father gave the name to all his children after he was saved in jail by an muslim inmate called "hassan".

The irony being that he was attacked in Jail by the lower caste criminals for being a "Brahmin", and he was sent to Jail because he was a "Communist" and against caste.

Chandrahasan and Kamalahasan are now Chandra Hassan and Kamal Hassan? Some people are totally bent. The guy changed his name relatively recently, after he started acting in Hindi films. What a numskull story.

In Sanskrit Kamal means "lotus", but it was rumoured that his name originated with a friend of his father (Yaakob Hassan, a Muslim freedom fighter who was imprisoned along with Kamal's father by the British). In a BBC interview with Karan Thapar Haasan said that his last name derives from the Sanskrit word hasya, and although the Yaakob Hassan connection was publicised by the media it was only "a story".

Around 50 members of Jammat E Islami Hind, (a NGO) has been quietly cleaning mosques and temples in the flood-hit areas of Chennai.

As reported by, The Hindu, the members belonging to the organisation has meticulously cleaned numerous temples in Kotturpuram and Saidapet in the last two days.

It is kamal Hassan kamal= lotus Hassan = seat which mean while is brahmas name.

Asa means seat in sanskrit.

Aasan means seating posture.

But you are partially correct, Kamalhassan is a corruption of Kamalaasan which is a posture in Yoga. It means Lotus posture or the one who sits in a Lotus posture. so it can also mean Vishnu.

Both his brothers are also named from Yoga postures. Charu Hassan and Chandra Hassan. Both are corruption of Yoga postures name.

Charu comes from caraasan or Caru - Aasan which means "elegant posture"

Chandra Hassan comes from Chandraasan which means "moon posture".

However the kids now goes by the name Shruti Hassan, Anu Hassan etc. Maybe that is why the story of Yakub Hassan stuck. I guess the person who could confirm this is dead.

Chennai is one city you will hardly see any Religious tensions (Yes Caste problems always existed)....Even during Babri Masjid/Ram temple episode..we only heard about the riots through news, Chennai was as peaceful as ever.

So somehow religious tension is worse than caste tensions ? :cheesy:

I never said one evil is better than the other or did I?
Or rather are you implying the same?...... While comparing the rest of the country...At least Chennai has only one eveil to deal with..dont you think so?
