Sure when i get married and have kids i wont be feeding them atleast cartoons based on hindu religious myths for after all if we had to teach hinduism to our kids then what was the use to have a separate homeland. Why cable networks should be forcing these down our throats.

and so much so for your neutral stance i have hardly seen any Indian condemning the Church burning Quran. so much so for your debate against "bigotry"

WHAT are you talking about? Go through this thread and say that again.

But what can we expect from a rupee news journalist spewing anti-india propaganda. How much do they pay you for conspiracies?

Islam and Hinduism are pretty much opposite and I don't agree with mixing hindu beliefs into our culture... I think we have a bit to much of it in Pakistan already. Kids don't need to watch more of this!

Keep it up Mr. Jana. One day the flaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaames will die down :

Please make a correction i am NOT a Mr.

i am MISS and dont like to be called a Mr.

Off topic, and according to the previous warning, I would be suprised if this doesn't lead to a Ban.

Your TV is stuck on one channel? TV remote not working?? How is that forcing anything down your throat?

Forcing it down throat would be if someone is tied up in a chair, made to sit in front of a TV playing cartoons and have their eyelids stapled open.

Since when Churches are burning Quran? It is like saying Mosques burning Bible..... doesn't make sense.

The way you are referring to Church implies the Vatican or any other diocese ordering Quran burning, which is again absolutely incorrect. You can not use action of one pastor to generalize .....

btw, go and check the relevant thread, Indians have condemned it.... but you would see only what you want to see, not the truth!! Right??:P

Dismay and outrage over Hindu cartoons controversy

KARACHI: “It is a renowned fable that a king once directed the subjects in his kingdom to prevent beautiful birds from flying in the sky. People tried to chase them but it was impossible. So is the case in our country, we fight against nature when it is highly impossible to do so,” says Hari Motwani, a current member of the Advisory Council and ex-general secretary of the Pakistan Hindu Council, when asked about the ban on the mythological cartoon characters that is being considered in Punjab.

As reported in The Express Tribune on September 7, the Punjab government has formed a committee which will issue a report asking for a ban to be imposed on cartoons depicting Hindu mythology.
This ban would be an additional measure adopted to curb Indian programming in the country, given that channels without landing rights have already been taken off air.

According to Shadman, a cable operator at Cable Home Vision Communications, “The ban on these cartoon characters has been place for the past 20 days in Sindh and we are following that ban by not showing it at all.”

However, a Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority representative told The Express Tribune that no special directives have been issued for cartoons in particular, except that the Indian transmission of Cartoon Network has been taken offair.

The committee formed by the Punjab government also wants to ensure that CDs with the cartoons are not sold in Pakistan.
However, the move has not resonated well within Pakistan. Commentators on Twitter and The Express Tribune website wrote that the government seemed to be wasting its time with ‘irrelevant matters’ and that the move was ‘ridiculous’.

TV personality Shanaz Ramzi told The Express Tribune, “This is silly. These characters are part of the Hindu culture and viewing them does not change one’s belief or faith. So it certainly is not going to affect anybody’s mindset. We are no longer the pluralistic and tolerant society that we used to be. We breed intolerance.”

While Punjab Member of Provincial Assembly Farah Deeba told The Express Tribune that the move was because the cartoons “had a bad impact on the minds of young children,” parents disagree.

Shahid Ashraf, a father of two girls, told The Express Tribune that he does not think “there is anything wrong with watching cartoons of characters such as Hanuman, who is a character on screen like Dora or Barbie.”

Ashraf said, “I want to be the kind of father who keeps my children well-informed and they themselves should be best judges about things governing our lives. I believe my values are stronger than this and nobody can change that.”

According to Motwani, “For example, ‘Amar Chitra Katha’ is an epic that relates well in Indian culture, it is not a myth but a reality. Whatever decision that the Punjab government has taken is certainly without taking things into their rightful and meaningful context.”

Dismay and outrage over Hindu cartoons controversy – The Express Tribune

This Punjab Govt is an embarrassment, rather than concentrating on real issues, it goes after nonsensical matters.

A simple cartoon would not really alter the faith of someone unless their faith is very weak, but in Pakistan many have weak faith so it is expected.

This is in the long list of unnecessary motions by the Punjab Gov through which nothing is achieved at the end.

We are talking cartoons here.. they are not meant to alter any fiath! they are meant to build faith..... target audience is children.
Since you don't live in Pakistan.... you have no chance to see the consequence on children.
I think it is more society than Punjab govt. which have rejected it.
More over those cartoons are not showing the complete picture of Hinduism.
I grew up watching Door Darshan from Amritsar booster VHF transmission and guess what.... it was total different religion what the show no media these days.

Put no affect on health of pakistani people..they just indian sat channels just for entrtainment, and yeah why india banned pakistani channels in Kashmir

Why? Hindus are not there in Pakistan?

hindus make only 1% of Pakistan's total population, and most of the hindu population of Pakistan reside in Sindh Province of Pakistan.

Pakistan doesn't show any cartoons on Religion. Why should Pakistan show a cartoon that teaches hinduism to kids when only 1% of Pakistan's total population follow hinduism?

The Pakistani hindus can practice their beliefs in their homes or temples and they can teach their own children the way they want, but we dont have to teach hindu teachings to our children.

why not show them all the teachings and let the kids be the judge? why should the choice of the parent be shoved on the kid?

Imagine what would have happened if kids all over the world were shown Islam only as "Osama Bin Laden" or the kinds of fanatics it has. Kids will only grow hating it more. Show them the life of the prophet, the trials and tribulations he went through and he will understand the root cause of Islam and the reason why it is what it is today.

If you want to feed your kids what your opinion of other religions are and not the facts, it is going to be a big big problem

For all the people here.. Imagine a situtation like this: you put your kids in a school which teaches all religions - not the opinions of Pastors or Mullahs of what the Book actually teaches - but the actual book itself.

They will laugh at the naivity of the books - the earth being flat and being generated in 6 days, they will question if this is the truth and try to find solutions - and believe me thats where they come up with better answers and better solutions than what we have today.

If what our kids have to be is determined by what we are, then there will be no development at all! I dont listen to my parents when i have to select what course I do, what field I want to go into and even what dress I wear to go out with my.. how can i let them force me to choose a religion for the life time???

You are lucky, most children in the subcontinent do not have the luxury to question their parents, especially when it comes to religious teachings. (Don't ask me how many times I been slapped for asking questions to my Father when I was a kid)

We are taught to be subservient and not to question the authority as opposed to kids growing up in western culture.

What are inappropriate according to you, Cartoons dont have any abuse or porno related language? If I know Kalma & many other muslim religious practices and hear Azaan daily since I was kid (As I stayed in Muslim majority area). According to you I would be polluted.. right?

I have spent my whole childhood at my friend's house who was a Muslim(we were in a same school). His mother told me thousands of stories of all famous Islamic personalities, taught me Urdu and i started learning ayats. Today if i boast then i can say that due to Islamic stories full of fantasy, bravery, righteousness i was more informed Muslim than my friend at times. My Hindu faith was inculcated in me by my family and its as strong as my respect for Islam.
In india we have seen many Islamic serials (On different Muslim characters with Islamic contents and showing Positive Picture of Islam) like Alif laila, Hatim tai, Mulla Nasarudin, Akbar the great, Amir Khusro, Mirza Galib, Bahadur shah Zafar, Sindbad the sailor, The sword of Tipu Sultan etc. I still remember how we as kids started keeping 786 batch in our pockets after coolie movie and doing every adventure by enchanting ''ya Ali'' (i think it was same in rest of the India).
There is no Islamophobia in India like rest of the world is having. But the way things have been changing fast outside and due to terrorist attacks and radical Islamic movement in Kashmir; India is feeling the same heat Inside. Interestingly there is prevalent Hindu Phobia in Pakistan (and its evident with this Particular move by Punjab govt.) though Hindus are law fearing and very peaceful compressible community in Pakistan. Furthermore we have seen many channels openly talking **** about Hindus on national channels in Pakistan. I always wonder if same wording be used by an Indian anchor about Muslims on air the whole India will start burning into flames withing an hour.

We are talking about cartoons here, I do not know if you build your faith through them but most other people would tend to build their faith from scriptural learning.

Since you don't live in Pakistan.... you have no chance to see the consequence on children.

I have lived in Pakistan for a long time and continue to live here, only going abroad for educational or work related purposes. My only home is in Pakistan.

I think it is more society than Punjab govt. which have rejected it. More over those cartoons are not showing the complete picture of Hinduism.

The government never consulted the society but rather made up a committee which is being harshly opposed. Like you said, if they do not show the full picture, then anyone watching it would be able to differentiate it with reality. I as a child was never swayed by any cartoons.
