If BD is indias greatest ally it speaks volume of indias lack of credibility in the region. India have supported BAL whose actions have made them profoundly unpopular in the country. The anti-Indian feeling in BD is complete and it permeates also through BAL. India has over played its hand for short term gain.

There is really no reason why India and BD can not enjoy fruitful and productive relationship. However India is simply inept at maintaining cordial relationships with its neighbours. It messed in the internal affairs of BD unnecessarily and will reap the rewards. No one including Hasina considers India ally, she is using India to stay in power, nothing more.

It does not matter who is in power in BD the triumvirate that matter is China, US/EU and Saudi Arabia.

As long as she knows her role (our maid) and acts within it to further our aims and gather what she can personally out of it at same time, she will be praised. Thats the Faustian bargain she has made and accepted.
