Hindi and Urdu words learning thread.

Actually in pure Urdu i think it will be "Urdu Hindi se behtar zaban hai."

Urdu rumani aur shayarana zaban jabki Hindi mein sheetalta aur swachhata hai.

1 Well yes, that would be how "pure" Urdu is. But thing is, there's officially no pure Urdu and Impure (Filmi etc.) Urdu.
To us it really doesn't matter if the word descends from Arabic/Persian or Sanskirt. We value them both :)

It's more of a Hindi concept, where in an attempt to rid of "Islamic" (Perso-Arabic) influence on Hindi, several thousand common words are replaced with Sanskrit ones.
The problem this creates is that the language starts to become a little "artificial" and doesn't flow as well as say, Urdu, which is basically Hindi without all the extra Sanskirtisation.

2 Urdu is a poetic and ------ (rumani) language whereas in Hindi there is ------ (sheetalta) and ------ (swacchata).
That's all I could make out

Actually if you are a Hindi literature student , you are expected to use more of Sanscritized words otherwsie if you are
writing in general you can use common Hindi that is common Urdu.

Not really, that's Persian. In Urdu we say "Talvar" to mean sword.

True, that it has come from Farsi but then again Urdu is not going to be a distinct language if you omit Persian and Arabic words. Another word, it will be Hindi.

I think you misunderstood; I'm not ommitting words on purpose. I never ever heard the word Shamshir in my whole life; I had to google it when you mentioned it.
So I'm supposing it's a poetic word for sword at best, I might be wrong

The proper word is shamsheer.

Maybe, but I doubt Talvar is improper
