S-400 is a very old system. Its originally named S-300PMU3. The latest S-350 is very hard to counter.

The US has excellent reconnaissance satellites. Russia is only just catching up in this field with the launching of many Kondor satellites.

S 400 is a great air defence system. I dont think you can find better equipment in world.

HIMARS is not an anti radiation missile system. The location of S-400 batteries and its components is provided by American military satellites.

No ABM system in the world is perfect, they can be overwhelmed easily.

Recently Americans provided Ukrainians with cluster munitions and French have promised to give Ukrainians long range missiles. Even Americans are negotiating to provide Ukraine with longer range cruise and ballistic missiles.

There will be no solution for Russians left to keep their achievements in Ukraine intact, unless they immediately occupy 3 Baltic states and bomb NATO supply lines from there. It is true that the 3 Baltics are NATO memebrs, it is when the push comes to shove.

My two cents:
Problem with defence systems is that they have to detect & engage their target without being detected.Once ADS is detected,a capable adversary can take it out with precision strike.

Now this incident tells us about importance of developing Fatah-2 Guided MLRS and supporting surveillance assets like

With twice the range of HiMARS.

250km range is enough to push S-400 away from border for creating safe space for PAF to operate.



One thing more:

S-136s Massive use by Russians indicate that UAVs/loitering munitions are useful but not really decisive in battle field unless fully coordinated with other war assets.

The technology, and that's about it. The S-400 is a good system, despite the selective footage. It's just meant for dealing with systems like HIMARS.

Do you think Russians will openly admit that their system was destroyed in Ukraine and failed to intercept cheap rockets with 100% success ?
This will significantly decrease the exports of S-400 if they admit it publicly.
