We already buying some 200 Rafale or Typhoon with 20+ Billion $.

100 More Sukhoi 30MKI with Brahmos will come in 5 years.

69 MIG29 would be upgraded in 2 years + 45 More MIG 29 for 2 Air Craft Carrier.

51 MIRAGE 2000 MK2 worth 3-4 billion $ will be upgraded

200-250 Tejas in next 10 Years. [mainly MK-2]

250-300 PAK FA / FGFA (5th Generation AC worth 25-30 Billion$ already final

250-500 AMCA (5th Generation AC worth 25-50 Billion $ will be inducted after 2020)


We only need to execute/Produce on fast track......If above Final and Confirm deal will be done on time. It would be 2nd Best AirForce in the world with Quality 1,000 4.5th and 5th Generation AC.

Also the first 20 f-35s wont have an aesa... n their aesa n tech is "American"..... n is still under development n barred frm exporting to india by usa.

Israel already has ELTA-2052 AESA radar, and having more than 1600 T/R modules, it's performance will be close to the american counterparts. And Israeli f-35's costs around $120 million, which was increased from $95 million as contracted before.

I think it would be a smart choice to buy F-35`s since Israel and India have such close ties, they could upgrade the jets much better with shared experiences.
That`s how the F-16 Jets became so powerful, experience during combat and upgrading them from Israeli and American combat experience.
Of course, terms will need to be reevaluated so that India gets more out of the deal.

But Most of them already ordered except Indigenous Tejas/AMCA. So, We can count what is expected to come as per deal. Everything i mentioned as per deal and order book.

F-35 is a very good Air Craft no doubt in 5th Generation category. But only problem is timing. it would be deliver after 2017 that also i am not sure due to huge order by various countries. Our need is immediate. But We can Buy 35-40 F-35 Naval variant for our 4th Aircraft carrier INS Vishal (2020).

We already have deal worth 25-30 Billion $ for same generation PAK FA / FGFA and will start inducting after 2017 without much hassle or delay. This project is JV between India and Russia. I feel, More 5th Generation and that also new type will effect our own Indigenous AMCA.

If we will Buy everything what would be left to produce on own ??

IAF has its hands full for the next 10-15 years with Super Su-30, MMRCA, PAK-FA, LCA and AMCA joining the fleet. Maybe a 'believable' pitch can be made for the F-35C to the Indian Navy for its second indigenous AC.

The Fact is U.S. has never supported India in last 64 years. U.S. was Pakistan allies since 1947. May be Ex-Allies now. Still, India should be Friend and not Very good Friend to US. Russia, Europe and Israel are far better than U.S. When we needed U.S the most, they didn't helped. Now, US wants India to be very Good friend when things changed.

But we don't need US any more in same way due to our growing Economy and Better relation with many other countries. We should maintain Neutral relation only. India has independent diplomacy and we should maintain this. Israel and Russia are our true friends since many decades at least history says so.

Why would India pitch for F-35 and the ensuing threat of spares when its developmental partners are reducing their shares and it is continuously mired by problems. And India strategy for 5th gen is as much tech transfer as possible and Russia is helping them well in this regards.

The reason F16/18 got rejected in MMRCA bid applies here as well. SO no deal.
