High Speed Trains in Pakistan

You do realize that for speeds up to 125 MPH you can use existing tracks by upgrading them for high speed.
Yeah i know that but a speed of 125kmph cannot be called as a "High speed".I thought that you were talking about Bullet trains.if you dont have trains in Pakistan which cant attain a speed of 125km per hour then it is a shame actually.You should do this on a fast track basis.

We dont, they do plan to increase the speed soon though.

Yeah i know that,Everything boils down to funds and economy at last.I am afraid that Pakistan might overtake India in economic growth rate from next year.Lets wait and see what happens.

Pakistan does not have good future plan, maybe Russia should annex our country and pay tax properly to achieve big dreams. :(
yes and we should shove a Ghauri missile up Russia A** if it even thinks that

What a commuter needs. 1. Punctuality of travel time. 2. Comfort. 3. Reasonable Fare.4. Reasonable travel time. 5 Availability of service with in 30 minutes (like Daewoo Bus).
My suggestion is to buy efficient rail cars capable to run with speed of 120Km/Hour and initially run them between Lahore-Islamabad or Lahore-Faisalabad with interval of 30-45 minutes. But do you think transport mafia will allow this?

Daewoo is already running at 100 KM/HR. Why even bother to run rail cars at same speed. We need something that runs faster so that Businessman can travel from Islamabad and reach Lahore in less than 2 hours and return back after conducting 8 hours of business, the same day.

We need to demolish this Transport Mafia.

I think the costs you are quoting are for brand new Tracks.

We have existing tracks that can be Upgraded for trains running upto 125 Miles an Hour.

The cost of upgrading these existing tracks is not as high as laying new lines.

You need new Railway tracks for speeds 150 MPH or higher.

For speeds up to 125 MPH , you can upgrade the conventional tracks and they function perfectly well.

The cost of upgrading our existing tracks will not be that high.
Agreed! But then as you mentioned, it won't really be 'high speed'. 150-180 kmph would be max. But even then you would need matching new technology rolling stock. It's not just about upgrading existing tracks only!

not possible for pakistan for atleast next 10-15 years.....
heck...even in india this seems a difficult plan.....
paistan don't have money and too much terrorism ...what if TTP decided to blow up a railline ..what will happen ..millions of dollars will be lost and numerable life ...not to say if this is for elites then elites will be killed deeply affecting the business of pakistan.....

Electricity would be a basic requirement for high speed trains. How about generating electricity first?

@Pakistanisage
Why are you having Buddha in your profile picture? Do other Pakistanis not feel offended? Sorry but just curious.

@Paksitanisage

Sir this is not a bad plan, but like the motorway plan in early '90s, it is at least a decade or two ahead of its time at this stage.

No harm in planning and understanding the requirements. I hope it does get built one day - and I also hope that it extends to Karachi & maybe even Quetta & perhaps Gwadar one day.
