Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah said on Tuesday that his militants are capable of wiping out Israel's navy and any other ships heading to Israel in the event of a new war with the Jewish state.

"If you launch a new war on Lebanon, if you blockade our coastline, all military, civilian or commercial ships heading through the Mediterranean to occupied Palestine will be targetted by the Islamic resistance," said Nasrallah in a speech transmitted via video link to thousands of supporters massed in Hezbollah's stronghold in Beirut's southern suburbs.

"Whether along the northern or southern Israeli shore, we can target ships, bomb them and hit them God willing," he added, speaking on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon after a 22-year occupation.

"When the world sees how these ships are destroyed, no one will dare go there (Israel)," he added. "And I am only speaking about the Mediterranean, I haven't reached the Red Sea yet."

His speech came against a backdrop of tension in the region following allegations that the Shiite party, which fought a devastating war with Israel in 2006, was stockpiling sophisticated new weapons in anticipation of a new conflict.

What do u think is Hezbollah so much powerful tht his men can challenge Isreal's navy ...............

.
They had shot down a egyptian ship with a missile..
i think they can do it.
And they can take out the patrol boats easier then the bigger ships.

. .
I want to know with what??I am sure that mere words wont destroy ships

They did catch the Israeli Navy by surprise in the 2006 conflict. Israel was unaware Hezbollah had Iranian C-802 missiles. Next time however you can be sure the Israeli Navy will be more prepared. The next conflict which is inevitable will be much more destructive.

Inevitable.....uh oh.....this conflict might as well include an American strike on Iran ?

Not necessarily, the 2006 conflict showed it doesn't take much to start a war. Just miscalculation on the side of the instigator.

Indeed they did.
But what did we learn from the last conflict? don't underestimate Hezbollah, they are both good and innovative fighters. They have successfully used potent ATGMs, Anti-ship missiles, SAMs and UAVs, wonder what they will surprise us with the next time....

Very convenient explanation. The standard Israeli line. You go to war with your pants down ? Who does that ?

Thomas why are you holding the water for Israel, they are big boys and been in the hood for a while.

The Israelis enter Palestinian towns in West Bank in tanks and armored vehicles with Arab kids tied around as human shield.

By forcing them to enter buildings ahead of military personnel, in order to check if they are booby-trapped, or to remove the occupants. As in the case involving Sameh Amira. Or like these Palestinian civilians being forced by an IDF patrol to enter houses on Market Street, in Balata Refugee Camp nr Nablus, during "Operation Still Water" (18 Dec 2003 - 6 Jan 2004).
