Hey PDF members: Are You Left Wing or Right Wing? Take the Test

I like more recent figures like Mao, Che Guevara, etc.

Yea I think views about Authoritarian/Libertarianism depends on the environment and society we live in. If we are all living in a perfect Utopia right now, most of us would then be pure Libertarian.

Why are you so pro socialist tho? Mao? Che Guevara? I never liked Mao's concept of perpetual revolution. I find that concept of rebellion , as seen in the cultural revolution warfare committed by the Red Guard, as destabilizing for a nation.

In fact, Deng Xiaoping's re-orientating of China towards Western Capitalism was what saved China and gave it the capacity to survive, unlike its counterpart the Soviet Union, which was totally communist in principle and form. China's communist authoritarianism combined with capitalist reform allowed it to prosper. Had China remained purely communist as in the likes of Mao Zhedong, Li Shiaoqi, Lin Biao, Zhou Enlai , Hua Guofeng --- then I believe China would have remained economically stagnant and a third world.

I value the concept of 調和 -- which means harmony/ balance. As well as 体制 -- Order.

My personal heroes were: Prince Shotoku, Fukuzawa Yukichi, Sakamoto Ryoma, Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt and the like.

I think the test can be revised to 4 dimesions to add Military and diplomacy.

Anyone has the same idea?

I also think this test should need more samples to adjust now they have PDF samples.

:D

An advice to member who want to attend the test.

You should choose an option in 3 seconds when the first answer come out of your mind after you read all the question.

Or it will lead to an opposite result -- a projection of your wish.

I see a score trend amongst Chinese, Indian posters. Most scores are left leaning.

Not just the Chinese and Indians, but the Vietnamese and Pakistani members too. As of now, PDF is overwhelmingly leftwing, or what the webmaster say, full of Mandelas and Dalai Lamas lol.

Only 1 Japanese, 1 American and 1 Filipinos are right wing lol.

But its hard to say if this test is accurate or not, as mentioned earlier. Each country and groups have their own standards and cutoff points between what is considered left and what is right. But it still give us a good reference point to compare each others.

It's just mainly a joke. Quite frankly, I don't think Che Quevara has achieved anything much. Some would say he has done more harm than good. But I do admire his spirit.

I also think they should separate the social and economical dimension. This test seems to group them together which might skew the result and surprises some people here.

I am closer to Gandhi. How? I thought I was more left wing than him on social issues and fare more right wing on economic issues.

Interesting to see that most Pakistani posters lean towards Libertarian vs most Indian posters here.

I do find it interesting that the overwhelming majority of the members: Pakistani, Indian, Chinese and Vietnamese are left leaning. With a healthy mixture of left authoritarian, left libertarian or left moderate. One can't help but assess if the independent variables of 1) political spectrum in their native countries, 2) exposure to socialist policies, 3) Religion, 4) Parental influence -- plays a role in the dependent variable (political-economic preference). Sounds like a good topic to research on.

If i had time, I could do an ANOVA , or MANOVA on these, with descriptive statistics to boot.

@Black Flag , -- you know, we could technically use PDF as a reference for Qualitative Stats sampling. For future reference, of course.
