I live near an airbase, actually right beside it( lessthan 1km from fence) i am am very found of drones (quadcopters with cam). I wanted to know if i can use copter here? I have no intentions to peak on the airbase m not that dumb or idiot. do i have to ask for permission, or move far away from my home to play with it? Is there a chance of a burraq or a fighter jet locking at my toy shooting it down or me getting arrested? Modern quadcopters have a range of abt 70km. Maybe it could alert them? I just wanna buy it for upcoming eid to film places i have planned visiting (far away from home) but i will have to test it first right?

You can use it but far away from the base.

Don't ever try to do it near security installation which may lead you to jail or serious investigation.

At that height the airstrip could be seen due to the camera angles and the security agencies won't allow it (due to past terrorist attacks on air bases)
As far as the question of leakage of information to other governments is concerned than those other governments already have much better ways and technology to gain access to the type, structure of the base than a quadcopter would reveal. You can fly it where it doesn't ring alarms.

I used to fly kites up high in the skies in my childhood and they never questioned about it. Kids still do it. My uncle made a rc plance back in 2003 i guess and tested it with permission but my concern is that you never know what's gonna happen.

Lol

By now they already know.

Anyhow try it. Do report back.

Hint. Don't paint an Iranian flag over it. They react quickly.

There were very insignificant terror threats back in 2003. But you can ask for permission. The base command may let you. Or you can go to any public park away from base to test your device. Is it extremely necessary to test it from your rooftop. If so than do seek permission. The only concern usually is terror threats. I remember we used to walk from school and into Nur Khan Airbase in 2007 without any body even the sentries saying a word as long as we were not on the airstrip. But now that area is like a fortress and though I never tried, I am sure no outsider would be allowed without verification.
All this to say that our sensitivities to base protection have changed.

Drones pose threat to the flights, then its a legitimate concern for govt.. aleady one serious incident happened in UK (BA aircraft hit by drone) there are laws against it .. if its a mini drone I dont think its a problem..whats the size/make of the drone?
