For passport, local police have to certify your conduct. So they will come to your home and nearby places and ask about you. Usually they take Rs-300/-...

In INDIA i.e.. Not in Pakistan you don't need a police certificate, neither pay bribes. You just go to the electronic window, wait your number, furnish the docs and the fee and have a mugshot taken. Ol' Pervez M. did do a few good things!

lolzz yeh but that is not used for bribing rather we use it to put some sense in some over excited officials

You do not need to go to police,, once you apply, they will come to you to know your history...

Pakistan is not my home, Afghanistan is my home. I have paid bribe in Afghanistan many times, once i wanted to get passport and i couldnt get one so i found a Mullah through somebody else and that mullah introduced me to another mullah, they took my money and brought the passport the next day. Abroad i have paid bribe to pakistani police as well many time.
