To comment on Bangladesh politics it is very difficult rather complex. But let me try a little bit. There is a old saying that “History repeats itself”. The human attitude, human behavior, human dream and human ultimate goal are always same. In various crisis if the situation demands it has been seen that the man seating at the top always wants’ to do something for the greater society, for the group, for the nation and in some instances for himself. Let us discuss the scenario of Bangladesh one by one:
@ In 1971, Maj Zia revolted at the last moment once there was no way out. First he wanted to save himself then the nation. Soon, he became a national hero.
@ In 1972, though Maj Zia was senior to Maj Shafiullah but he was not made the Chief of Staff rather his junior was made. So, indirectly from the very beginning there was a rift between these two Generals which was known to all concerned people. Once the situation arrived he took the advantage rather it came automatic spontaneously.
@ In 1982, once the Sattar Government of BNP finally decided to remove General Ershad from Chief of Staff, Ershad at once revolted and took power. It was said that the removal order of Ershad from Chief of Staff was signed on 25 February 1982 by President Sattar but it never came out in public.
@ In December 1990 once the political agitation against Ershad went out of control the Chief of Staff General Nuruddin at once withdrew allegiance to Ershad and finally General Ershad fell down and arrested.
@ In 1996, once Awami Leaque and other political parties started agitating against the Khaleda Govt for a “Caretaker Govt”, the then Chief General Nasim also played a foul game with the then govt. Actually, it was he who was hero behind the screen but unfortunately he could not come into the stage. Finally he hit at the wrong time and got the consequence.
@ In October 2006, at the end of BNP’s govt, President Yesuddin wanted to remove General Moiuddin and wanted to make Brigadier General Reza-qul Hyder as Chief. So, the time has come for final action ! And we know the consequence.
@ Now, this time what will happen only God knows ????? General Karim is likely to retire in the next month.(may in February or March) General Mullah Fazle Akbar will retire soon may be within 15 February 2015. General Officer Commanding 24 Division is also likely to be retire soon if he is not promoted. But as per my experience goes these Bureaucrats are highly selfish and very frequently changes their colours ??????
