The real story of Wasseypur, a suburb of Dhanbad.
B P SINHA was the Big Boss or Godfather of Mafia in Dhanbad. Surajdev Singh (elder of brother of Ramadhir Singh), Shafi Khan (father of Fahim Khan alias Sardar Khan) Tejan Singh (father of Suresh Singh) Sakaldev Singh (father of Ranvijay SIngh) Rajdev Rai (location unknown), Naurangdeo Singh (father of Jagan Singh) were his six lieutenants. BP Sinha ruled the Dhanbad coal city like uncrowned king for almost 40 years. He was like ‘mai-baap’ of Dhanbad, nothing happened without his approval. He had several lieutenants who helped him in creating a havoc among the private colliery owners to extort money. Everything was based on set of rules and everyone was supposed to obey them. Those who did not obey were killed immediately. It was more like organized crime of New York mafia. Care was taken so that poor common man was not harmed, so that image of BP Sinha was kept clean. Surajdev Singh started working against the established principles and later on objection of BP Sinha killed him in his residence. Shafi Khan (father of Fahim Khan, potrayed as Sardar Khan) and Rajdev Rai vowed to take revenge against the killing of BP Sinha from Surajdev Singh. But Surajdev singh had become so powerful that he got Shafi Khan killed on a railway crossing soon. Few days later he got Rajdev Rai murdered at his native village in Azamgarh, UP. After this Naurangdeo Singh made a compromise with Surajdev Singh and he was left alone to do his government contracts with the promise to never interfere in coal business. But the remaining two lieutenants of BP Sinha, Sakaldev Singh and Tejan Singh continued with promise to take revenge from Surajdev Singh. In this struggle even Sakaldev Singh was killed in a moving car. But finally, Suresh Singh, son of Tejan Singh took the revenge and got Surajdev Singh poisoned in his native village of Ballia during an election campaingn. He even got Rajiv Ranjan , son of Surajdev Singh brutally murdered and got his body cut in pieces and thrown in Hoogly river of Calcutta. After that Suresh Singh became the undisputed king of coal business in Dhanbad. However, recently in December 2011, Suresh Singh was killed by son of Ramadhir Singh during a marriage party. Fahim Khan(Sardar Khan)son of Shafi Khan, is continuing his struggle against the family of Surajdev Singh till now and is lodged in Jail. Ranvijay Singh (son of Sakaldev Singh ) is also giving a strong challenge to Surajdev Singh’s family and reduced their influence in coal trade. New goons like Dhullu Mahto have also emerged and are involved in illegal coal mining.
