Anyway here is some information for you guys about This new year

Its a Nepali calender 2068 BS (Bikram Sambat)
this was started by a king named Bikramaditya when he migrated to Nepal from Subcontinent in the paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssst and started the calender

Its a new year for tamils also today and mallayalis tomorrow!!.....but dont know what year it is in that calender.

That is "Vikram Samvat" a Hindu era based calendar, like the "Shaka" Hindu era calendar.
BTW, thanks for wishing us on a HINDU NEW YEAR!

Happy New year to All. Its Vikram Samvat 2068 Hindu New year. This year its already started on 04th April 2011 @ 21:06 Hrs IST. So its already 10 days passed. Its started every year after 15 days(Approx) of Holi (Its celebrated just a after Full moon or Purnima i.e 1st Chaitra Krishna Paksha) festival. Actually Holi is celebrated on Chaitra month 1st day of Krishna Paksha Just after 14-15 days just a day after New Moon (Amawasya) is the Vikram Samvata New Year of Hindus.

hey, vikaram samvat. is hindu calender, not only nepali. but i think the new year happened few weaks before..!

Its Nepali new year and now since someone mentioned it you are quick to claim it.

BTW Nepal is technically a Hindu state but they are nowhere near Indian attitude viz a viz faith

yeah right, gudi padwa in maharashtra, phool dai in uttrakhand etc. etc. are celebrated for new year and it has already happened.
