HAL to commence “Super- 30” modernization project from 2012 onwards

1) They say Zhuk AE, but I don't according Russian reports, there is still no decision been taken so far, BARS AESA upgrade is the other option.

Before this news, I read in some Russian report that its Zhuk-AE. But I think it will be larger one than that in Mig-35.

The diameter is not the issue, weight could be one, but mainly capabilities and not to forget the cost of course. Either we say Mig 29Ks will get Zhuk AE in future, so choosing that radar in a bigger size offers commonality, or we say BARS upgrade is easier and fits better to the AESA radar developments of Pak Fa / FGFA, because NIIP is developing all of them.
Personally, unless Phazotron don't offer real advantages, I would stick with NIIP!

Yes, NIIP radar will be better than Phazotron but now NIIP developing only AESA for MKI and IRBIS-E of SU-35 is PESA.

Actually with larger nose cone than Mig-35, the MKI can accommodate a radar with more T/R modules. The Bars is a huge radar.

this news says, in first phase there won't be a AESA upgrade..
Radar Upgrade The Bars phased -array radar of the aircraft will be upgraded in two phases . In the first phase, advanced operating modes will be introduced based on computer and other hardware upgrades . In the second phase, the passive array will be replaced with a AESA . The upgrades are to be carried out jointly by Russia, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Defence Research and Development Organisation .

The decision for AESA have been taken recently. And that is someone's personal opinion not a news source.

very much similar to Su 30mki

can we expect a increased range for AESA when its fitted in mki.. i mean a bigger radar ? can the engine provide enough power ?

cool ..so this is one mean juggernaut to avoid in the sky....

but im a bit skeptical on the role of novator..maybe folks with updated news can help me...like this novator is a quite large for a A2A missile and it aims to shoot down awacs. But wont the target itself pick this up and maybe a even guide another A2A radar guided missile into intercepting it?

Not complete stealth, but RCS will be reduced significantly from the previous one.

there is no credible info regarding this..all are just rumours..
already it has to increased strength to carry brahmose..so already a lot of weight added.

AESA means more power needed from engines.

so we already reached limits i guess..further weight (ram )means decreased performance.

most likely ram will come when we add more composites to air frame so that the weight can be balanced..just my thoughts.

Composites are very good dielectrics and tend to absorb a significant part of radar waves incident on it, so the RCS of the target appears smaller and further coating of RAMs will reduce the RCS to a significant extent, and thats what i said.

but are we adding any composites ? i think strengthening means more titanium and aluminium.
