I would have rafale over any fighter on the planet bar raptor and f35.

Nonsense.
Avionics mean shit when u are detected from 150 km.And vs SU-57 or J-20 it will be.
Be my guest and compare these 3 yourself.....

The internal weapons bay means a lot here, with full or partial load the rcs of rafale will be 20-30 more times than any 5 th generation. How do u expect to penetrate defence or claim air supremacy?
@Storm Force

. . . .
Why has HAL got to get involved in 10000 things at once??
Tejas mk1
Tejas MK2
Tejas Mk1a
AMCA
MKI

Tejas mk1/Mk1a- HAL's babies
Tejas MK2- No involvement yet
AMCA- No involvement yet
MKI- HAL is lead contractor

HAL- Russian
DRAL- French
TASL- American

Only the USA has mastered fifth generation technology

And no USA fifth generation fighter will ever be joining chins or Pakistan that much is guaranteed

Today rafale is superior to the new Chinese fighters IE J20.and J10.in terms if both cock pit Tech radars weapons and engines

I would have rafale over any fighter on the planet bar raptor and f35.

I agree on those points so is IAF

What happened to the Super Sukhoi Project?

Read the article we will buy 40 new Su-30s directly from Russia and make them BrahMos capable. After completion of those orders upgrades may begun. Very thoughtful move.

.
Very thoughtful move.

What is so thoughtful in this?
We are equipping even jaguars and mk1a with aesas and mki continues with a 20 years old PESA design?
They are supposed to be frontline of the force, what a joke. That should have been a priority rather than paltry 36 rafales ordered.Same is the condition with mig-29k.....it has a pulse doppler mechanical slotted array, can u imagine that??With that avionics its good for pounding maybe afgansitan having no airforce at all.Once again no upgrade plan, meanwhile keep on buying new shiny toys.

Imagine jf-17 getting an aesa with a decent range of say 150 km for 3m2 target......who do u think will get detected first?Mki with weapons load should be 15-20 m2 atleast. Its a realistic scenario,we will be having problems for sure. Now dont bring AWACS,everyone will have them/already have them.

What happened to the Super Sukhoi Project?

Nothing as of yet,just negotiations,lol.

. .
Just get more rafalec

So30mki is past and present

Rafales is the future and the present
For me, Rafale is the past as well.

As for Pakistan ever getting S fifth grn fighter I bet India gets f35 first

USA and India I'S strategic partnership thst will evolve massively over next two decades

USA will replace most of the Russian weapons in next twenty years for India both off shelf but more tot transfer of Tech

Stupid comment.

Why?

For me, Rafale is the past as well.

Russian Ambassador in New Delhi Alexander Kadakin claims Chinese Sukhoi Flankers will swat the Rafale like mosquitoes, but what’s more worrying is India is willing to spend $30 billion on a stop-gap aircraft.
Fighter planes fall into two categories – the hunters and the hunted. The French are pitching their Rafale as the dogfight duke that is the crème de la crème of jet fighters. But the Russian side disagrees. Alexander Kadakin, Russia's ambassador in India, says Chinese-made Sukhoi-27s would be able to swat the Rafales like “mosquitoes on an August night.”

No Negotiations. Just put on hold by Modi.

India has asked for time to study proposed Sukhoi upgrade: Rostec official
IANS | Moscow Last Updated at July 18, 2017 19:29 IST

Russia has offered to upgrade its existing Su-30 fleet in India to make it "very close to" the fifth generation fighter, but India has asked for time to evaluate its strategy, an official from Russian Helicopters maker Rostec said.

Interacting with a select group of journalists on the sidelines of International Air show MAKS in Moscow, Rostec's Director of International Cooperation and Regional Policy Victor N. Kladov said Russia had made the offer for upgradation of the Su-30 during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month.

"As far as I know it was raised between President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Modi in St Petersburg last month. The Indian Prime Minister once again reiterated that the Indian side needs time to evaluate its strategy of development and how to spend the money," Kladov said.

"We are offering a package for modernising the Su-30 aircraft. It will obtain new capabilities, it will be very close to the fifth generation aircraft in capabilities. This is a deep modernisation, everything should be changed - engine, computers, radar etc," he said.

Asked how much would such upgradation cost, he said that would depend on what upgradation India selects.

"The Indian Air Force has to evaluate its strategy and then take a decision," he said.

The twin-jet multirole air superiority fighter Su-30 is developed by Russia's Sukhoi and built under licence by India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

India has around 230 Su-30 jets which remain the frontline fighter for the IAF.

The upgraded Super Sukhois will include a modernized cockpit. A major part of the upgrade also involves avionics and sensors. The aircraft will have advanced stealth capabilities and be equipped with the Indo-Russian supersonic cruise missile BrahMos, an infrared homing system, new advanced avionics, and active electronically scanned array.

MAybe thats why we're buying from Russia directly, Su-30 will be equipped with BrahMos only so Russia can upgrade its radar to AESA if needed(Though i don't think its needed). Also India-Russia will have export orders too so its worth investing.
