IAF will induct only 40 LCA mk1. LCA mk2 will go into production from late 2015. Thus initial production line is ok. In future it will go upto 14 because HAL is setting one more facility which is under construction and will be completed by late 2015 or mid 2016.

Yes I noticed this too. However if you look at what he actually said ie 2 SQDs (~40 a/c) within the next 5 years=8 a/c per year but considering they certainly aren't going to start production this year so it is more like 40 a/c in 4 years=10 a/c a year if not higher. As such it looks like by 2018 HAL would have completed all Mk.1 deliveries and can then switch onto Mk.2. You'd expect that once they get the hang of it they will be able to churn these birds out faster and faster.

I think IAF don't want LCA it is imposed on IAF given the money invested in this project and time this project took IAF is in no position to deny purchase, if they do every one will abuse them.

First make a fighter from scratch and make 3 of the 5 critical components yourself. Then we'll talk.

Actually 20 years of development. Yes, 8 per year for an assembly line we set up ourselves, and a fighter we designed ourselves. First do those two things yourself, with no outside help, then talk.

You'd expect that once they get the hang of it they will be able to churn these birds out faster and faster.

Another point to remember is that with a completely new aircraft, it is not just a question of how many can be produced, but also IAF's ability to induct. Initially, IAF will not be able to induct 20 aircrafts a year into squadron service, since a lot of people need to be trained to maintain and fly it. Even the flight trainers need to be trained. So it is perfectly OK if the initial rates are 8 per year, as I doubt the IAF would be able to induct more than that initially. Once the support structure is in place, and the IAF has lots of people with experience handling it, they will be able to induct more per year.

JF-17 production rate is nearly 20 and 3 squadrons are operational while IAF will receive 2 LCA squadrons in 2018. :rofl: So lets not talk about JF-17 and turn this thread into troll fest.

Yea, but this is an aircraft that India designed by herself, and set up a production line ourselves. Without outside help. Try that, and see how long it will take you.

Of course Pakistan won't try that, because you know you can't.

Taking pride in Chinese accomplishments is all you can do.

We are producing 20 Sukhoi 30 MKIs a year, we will produce 16+ Rafales a year. But we don't boast about it as if that's our own achievement. When a country with no prior experience in designing and producing 4++ gen fighters does so herself, it will take time. It may be difficult for you to understand, since your country never attempted it.

Some days ago there was a news that some aerospace companies have shown interest to help HAL in setting up assembly lines but HAL denied it so it proves two things.

1: IAF is not interested in LCA so they are not pressurizing HAL for fast deliveries of LCA.
2: HAL wants to eat funds on this project as long as they can by undermining the operational requirements of IAF.

Or maybe it proves something else - that India wants to do it herself, so that the painful learning curve can be breached. And the IAF is not in a hurry to induct LCAs, because unlike PAF, we have other capable fighters entering service. Pak has no choice but to get JF-17s fast, but that is not India's case.

We are inducting a squadron of MKIs a year, and that itself is enough to keep our air force happy. We are determined to produce the LCAs ourselves, even if we take time.

What I said is not nonsense, and answers your point perfectly. After all, you are only here to troll and laugh. Laughing at India's accomplishments, which far exceeds yours.

In case you missed the point, it is this. That India is building a 4++ gen fighter by herself, and setting up production lines by herself, with no outside help. So it will take time. The reason that pak can produce JF-17s faster is because it had Chinese expertise and help. You have never attempted to build a fighter all by yourself, so you are in no position to mock.

Also, please check out what JF-17's initial production rate was.
