Iran blames Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage disaster
The head of Iran's haj organization blames Saudi "mismanagement" for a crush of pilgrims outside Mecca that killed hundreds of people, including 21 Iranian pilgrims. Saeed Ohadi told state TV by phone from Saudi Arabia that the incident might have been caused by the closure of a road. State TV says another 60 Iranian pilgrims were wounded in the incident.

I am in K.S.A. and I can tell you Saudis did best for security arrangements. Get a life dude and listen how pilgrims praise the arrangements.
1 lakh plus soldier are busy in security of pilgrims there and Lakhs of saudi providing services to pilgrims such as free juices, food, dates and every possible thing.
Even I saw video in news channels security forces trying to stop the running pilgrims but they don't listen

Nobody cares about their blabbering. They blame KSA for all their miseries. If a lightening struck somewhere in Iran and killed an individual or two they would blame it on KSA. Nothing that comes from that Mullah regime vis-á-vis KSA should be taken seriously.

There's rumors that it was a small fire which started it. I wouldn't believe anything that you hear right now.

True. I was just putting two and two together based on the witness accounts that I read. Until a proper investigation has occurred we won't know for sure but as I wrote initially and you confirmed this did not take place at Jamarat as in previous stampedes. It's almost impossible for that to occur today given the size of the area.

Very, very unfortunate tragedy. Truly shocking.

The tragedy occurred at Street 204 in Mina. That we know for certain now.
According to most of the witness accounts that I have read in the local and international media it seems that it was caused by a group of Hajis who tried to return to their tents from the same side from where they had entered which is forbidden. This apparently caused the stampede.

Everything points to that happening. Especially when it's 40 degrees Celsius. Hajis are prone to want to take the shortcut in such situations.

I can't think of any other explanation when nothing happened yesterday when a similar number of pilgrims had gathered (see my post 65 where I have posted 8 photos of Mina and Mount Arafat yesterday). It only takes a small group of pilgrims to commit an innocent mistake before panic sets in and such subsequent tragedies occur. As of the witness accounts that I have been reading now in the Arab and international media it is unlikely that the authorities could have done much to prevent this tragedy from occurring. Too quick for any definitive conclusions though.

It's something that can happen. Nobody wanted this tragedy to occur so we should not point fingers at anyone especially as there have been no investigation yet. People with an agenda (regardless of this tragedy or not) will write their nonsense (KSA did this deliberately, some "Sheikh nonsense" here and there, Hijaz should be shared by all Muslims countries - like the land was not a property of the locals like any country on earth) but this is irrelevant. Then you got the conspiracy theory fans. One already appeared in this thread convinced that someone is plotting against KSA.

I know it, I didnt say that I think that a sabotage is likely. I said "don't discard". It's unlikey, but I dont discard.

About weather when crane collapsed... It would be needed enter in conspiracies theories and suppositions.

But only I will add some about that: In 21st January 2012: Very bad weather in Ormuz Strait, a Iranian ship sank in Ormuz Strait that day causing several deads due to bad weather, a USA aircraft carrier navigate across strait a day after. And another day after EU approved economic sanctions against Iran. It was very opportune weather those days in that region.

I know that this unfortunate event is a very sensitive thing and it's not my intention offends to anyone. But I think that it should be investigated deeply, what was the initial cause of stampede...., and think coldly and rationally in every possible (and unlikely) hypothesis.

Let me go as far as to say that your last paragraph is the only part of your post that makes the most sense. I hope that I don't offend you by saying that. When something like this happens you can rest assured that there will be a very thorough investigation. Anything else would make no sense.

Wow RIP....what is a stampede? Did a thousand people really run each other over? This is not Saudi state's fault, someone or group of people among pilgrims must have made a mistake or this was intentional. There are security cameras so lets wait for investigation.

That's a common misconception. In stampedes, the major cause of deaths is not people running over each other, but people getting asphyxiated (unable to breathe) due to being squeezed from forward and behind. It's a tremendous amount of force pressing your chest from the front and back, and so the lungs cannot expand and take in air. It's a horrible way to die.

Some people also fall to the ground and get run over, but that's only a small contributing factor to the number of deaths.
