Friends,

I noticed that my hair had started to fall out about 8-9 months ago. I checked on internet and there is only one drug finastride 1mg which helps in preventing hair loss.

My concern is that, Is it safe?

Also does homeopathy helps in relieving hair loss?

I am planning to visit dermatologist but i thought that neutral opinion would be help in providing perspective.

@drunken-monke you are a pharmacologist AFAIK.
minodil5% spray morning+evening -- 5-6 puffs depending on puff size
+
ketoconazole shampoo 1% or 2% twice a week.. keep it in hair for 5minutes

multivitamins including zine tablets

certain dandruff also give the appearance of baldness -- so scalp health should be looked into first before starting this treatment

I think OP suffers from the same problem
i had a transient loss due to an operation -- i am all well now

@Manticore

Sirjee,

Do hair transplant works as advertised?

My hair pattern is currently that of Norwood 2 and going by the areas from which i am losing hair; i would end up with Norwood 5 or 6 ( sides and vertex intact ).

I am at least 5-10 years away from total baldness and could afford to wait if hair transplant could do the job.

it depends on the number of follicles transplanted in the session i reckon -- around 1500 - 3000 grafts is a good number

1 to 4 hairs are in each graft

Have you ever been to dermatologist? If no then go to a dermatologist don't take any drug without consultation, this is rule number 1. Let the doc see if you really have androgenic alopecia.

What is Finasteride and how does it work mustn't be your concern. Since you have asked - it's a drug that blocks testosterone conversion into more potent male hormone called dihydrotestosterone. Functions here are quite irrelevant, what relevant more is the fact that the drug disturbs the balance of the hormones. Less conversion of testosterone into stanolone (dihydrotestosterone) leaves more testosterone in body. Imbalance in hormones of course is not a good thing to have. The gloomiest side effect of this drug is erectile dysfunction, loss of libido (one doesn't feel like to have sex). Side effect in some cases doesn't subside even if one stops taking this drug.

One literally opt hair over masculinity..

For your information only - Minodoxil is a topical solution which can do the trick along with supplements like vitabiotics.

Hi,

Thank you very much for these detailed comments----this IDIOT does not have the brains to understand what he was being told in a nice subtle manner.

STUPID IDIOTS cannot comprehend that sometimes the effects are not reversible----it is like a valve----the job of a valve is to open and close----sometimes it closes and cannot open---at other times it cannot hold the pressure and works in a haphazard manner----.

That is why there are disclaimers on these medications----and then there are attorney advertising to file lawsuits---.

Sir,

You are confusing me with someone else. I started that thread to get neutral opinion as there are very few allopathic hair specialists out there. The person with whom sparred on this issue is a different person not me. At least check forum handle of poster before calling people names.

I was not inclined to take finastride before and after going through and has now decided to take homeopathy and use minoxidil ( which does not have -ve effect ) and going for hair transplant after 10 years ( My hairloss is in initial stage ).

minoxidil has no side effects other than itching in some people, granted its not sprayed over the prescribed puff number-- otherwise systemic side effects might be seen

Is there any relation between fatty foods and hair loss
Yes.. Very spicy oily and hot (tekha) food induces hair loss.. Spices induces androgen production and also the heat produced due to spices and hot food results (one of the reason) for alopesia...

.
hang on to every word in this post all you young guys looking for a med to get your head of hair back:
Hi,

Donot take any drug that reduces the testostrenone level---or any drug that says that male potency will be reduced---. You might get some of your hair back---but then you might also lose your sexual drive as well---. Sometimes the results are not reversible.

.
use minoxidil topically . finasteride is not advisable .
Minoxidil only alters the hair lifecycle, it does not reduces or stop it.

For all hair alopecia patients, I recommend use of squeezed juice of onion (after making paste of it). Applying this on scalp and then washing after 20 min significantly reduced hair lost.
For dandruff which is one of the major cause of hair loss, do this.. Crush Aspirin Tablet, mix it with normal shampoo (about a teaspoon of shampoo with one tablet crushed) apply in scalp and keep for 5 min and then wash with cold/lukewarm water.. Then wash again with normal shampoo and rinse with water.. Salicylic acid removes dandruff significantly..

You need to eat B-complex capsules thrice a day. which reduces hair loss..

and remember, hair loss is something which you can be proud of. Ask how?? Androgen causes allopecia, but this andogen (along with testosteron) is the reason because of which we are men and the rest of manly things.

Remember, minoxidil is temporary solution.. But it can cause you to loose your hairs completely once you stops using topical soulution/foam..

Am a Pharmacist/Pharmacologist believe me...

Even a bald man looks handsome....
