I enjoyed reading this old gem. Heard it on TV last night on Kashif Abbasi's program.

Urdu Transliteration

Hindustan bhi mera hai aur Pakistan bhi mera hai
Lekin in donon mulkon mein Amrika dera hai

Aid ki gandam kha kar ham ne kitney dhokey khai hain
Poochh na hamne Amrika ke kitne naaz uthai hain

Phir bhi ab tak wadi-e gul ko sangeenon ne ghera hai
Hindustan bhi mera hai aur Pakistan bhi mera hai

Khan Bahadur chhodna hoga ab to saath Angrezon ka
Ta bah gareban aa pahuncha hai phir se hath Angrezon ka

Macmilan tera na hua to Kenedy kab tera hai
Hindustan bhi mera hai aur Pakistan bhi mera hai

Yeh dharti hai asal mein, pyare, mazdooron dahqanon ki
Is dharti par chal na sakegi marzi chand gharanon ki

Zulm ki rat rahegi kab tak ab nazdik savera hai
Hindustan bhi mera hai aur Pakistan bhi mera hai

English Translation

Hindustan belongs to me and Pakistan belongs to me
Both of these, however, are under American hegemony

American aid gave us wheat, as also their deceit
Do not ask me how long we’ve suffered their conceit

And yet the bayonets are all around this flowering valley
Hindustan belongs to me and Pakistan belongs to me

Khan Bahadur, do not follow the English, from them better keep away
Once again they are holding you by the collar, you are still their prey

Macmillan was never thine, Kennedy can never be
Hindustan belongs to me and Pakistan belongs to me

This land in fact, my dear, belongs to peasants and workers
Here will not run the writ of a few clannish marauders

The dawn of freedom is heralding the end of tyranny
Hindustan belongs to me and Pakistan belongs to me.

Surprising that there was a communist party in Pakistan. Surprised that it still is there in a different name. I thought Communism and Islam dint gel well

He seems to be indirectly decrying the Army and establishment for being played by Americans.

Wasn't he prosecuted by the military for the same reason?

I think he realized that going under the wings of US was a mistake and peace with India was a better option, what do you think?

Dude...Nothing will come out of this topic...The fundamental reason of our reason of enemity is that India and Pak do not trust each other....

Croc tears.

If Pakistan did not invite US into the region in the 50s , US would not have been here as a "wall".

They were in bed with US for a good 54 years before 9/11.

It's high time Pakistan learned to stand on its own feet instead of relying on the Yanks for the moolah amounting to billions upon billions of dollars which they have been receiving as aid since the 50s. That's the reason for Pakistan not making the effort to become self reliant. This perhaps was a conspiracy by the Americans to keep Pakistan forever indebted to and dependent on it. After all, they needed a base in South Asia to keep tabs on the Soviets (and now Afghanistan) seeing that India was in the sphere of Soviet influence during that period. Pakistan played America's game as the money was flowing in by the billions as well as the state of the art weapons and equipment that was being used against its mortal enemy - India.

But its high time Pakistan got out of America's shackles and started being a truly sovereign independent nation and stopped looking at America as its milch cow.

Pakistanis does not promote communism but since Imran Khan has been talking some people do lean towards welfare concepts central to Islamic practices of the Prophet's era.

Which means less class-ism rather than classless, less tax breaks (rich people get taxed same percentage as the poor ones, but tax breaks may be earned through other contributions to society, like go green initiatives).

You can still earn and be wealthy.

Also Indians should not be under the foolish notion that they are not as affected by America, and after reading this poem you have to yet again decry "Who o why, Pakistan" then that itself is a testament to how short sighted your thinking has become which in turn serves the United States.

Anyway, the point of posting this was not Indian Bhai-chara - this comparison is more true now between Afghanistan and Pakistan - the discussion last night on Kashif Abbasi's program was about Drones. Pakistan has been reduced to dust on real level... Our people on a parliamentary scale are requesting America to please stop attacking us with drones and raids. Whereas they should be saying "Dude we'll blow **** up, if you come here again".

This is worse than saying Drone attacks are unacceptable, which we used to say before.

Jinnah actually eluded to that in that speech of his in which he talked about getting rid of the poison of provincialism and he ended that speech with the following words :....Pakistan must be based on the pure foundations of social justice and Islamic Socialism'...in fact let me go and look for a copy of that !
