Gurkha ordered back to UK after beheading dead Taliban fighter Read more: http://www

Good thinking. Bit on the barbaric side but if the ID is needed i don't see a problem with it at all.

Problem is, there is a law that protects the defiling of human remains. Personally i couldn't care less for this "commander" or his head, but laws should be applied equally.

I remember a strongly worded report of Pakistani soldiers kicking Taliban corpses in anger after killing them. That and the interrogation video made "terrific news in the west".

I wonder if the MOD will hush this down.

Like i said it is pretty barbaric and like you said it is against the law but the guy is a dead terrorist. Plus that makes me think doesn't a bomb being dropped on a house defile humans or is it just the dead you can't do it to ? I have seen turkish soldiers kick dead PKK member heads too. Emotions fly high but you can't help biased west news. (If they aired Taliban beheadings then showed pakistani soldiers kicking the people who did it people would understand more.)

Why not just take a picture of the dead taliban fighter to prove his ID?

gurkha soldier :- cheep alternative to expensive british soldier can easily compensated.

Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel James Carr-Smith, said:

"It is with deep sorrow I must inform you that three soldiers from the 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles Battle Group were killed this morning in southern Nahr-e Saraj, Helmand province".

If gurkhas become brave and feirce by cutting off the head of a dead taliban than what abouth those taliban who behead so many captured troops.

Truth is theirs no bravery in it. Its just sheer stupidity and reflects the sickness of one form..!!!

Very true, there is no bravery in beheading a dead body. Refering to the taliban, the taliban mostly behead the civilians, they are cowards of the cowards.

It's covered under collateral damage, wilfully defiling a corpse is not...

Also: Jigs your mature enough not to play the Pakistani angle with me... as i stated earlier "i don't care about the commander or his head" just the way stories are reported.

Please lets be mature in our discussions without playing on emotions. Cheers!

That is western media though it can't be helped like i said. I am also not pulling any angles on you. Everyone should know that emotions in war run high. It isn't a good thing as professionalism comes first but it happens. The guy in the heat of the moment while under fire cut a dead terrorists head off for ID.

God bless the warrior gurkhas i hope more taliban heads role and they be made into human footballs lol
But your government shouldn't stop them from such acts because these Talijerks only understand such a brutal language. They deserved what they got. I salute my Gurkha brothers.

i agree but alas UK is a liberal country and is rather prudish thats why we emply brave gurkhas as english are squeamish they will go all pale at the sight of a chopped head lol

Let us see how the Gurkhas now perform against the Maoists as they already have been assigned in the affected areas under Para military umbrella. It will be interesting to see how professionally they perform over there. New Delhi want them to go really hard on the Maosist who are no less brutal.

As far as I know Gurkhas are not eligible for any kind of para military force/police force which demands close proximity with civilians.

That applies only when they are under IA command. There are some grey areas here too. Don't mind , let them go after the Maoists. By all all mean , Maoists are no civilian and there is no civilian in Black OPS .

I don't mind that, gurkhas are best known for their loyalty and religiously following orders and rules(which some other well-known warrior tribes lack), not brutality. Also I wouldn't mind any brutality to those who can blow up train full of civilians.

Arent you a little ahead of yourself here? Let me just refresh your mind, y quoting your own previous post.

Different yardsticks to different people, eh?

Have you read the report? The troops were to get a high interest talibozo, alive or dead. They apparently managed to get that bozo, and while trying to retrieve its body as a piece of intel, came under fire. Not knowing what to do, the Gorkha decided to take its head, instead of the body for ID purposes. Plain and simple.
Desecration goes both ways. When a Talib cuts off the head of someone, to him things are just as plain and simple as they seem to you.

In all of this, humanity seems to have been lost.
