Are we threatened by hostile nations with the intent of blowing up our satellites? How many spy/ recce satellites do we have in space breathing down other people's throat? Demonstrating ASAT capabilities is useful when an imminent threat exists to our vital space assets. It is a deterrent. India has no such threat perception now. So what exactly will the tests accomplish? Apart from adding to the space debris? Let China and the US keep threatening each other. Why are we unnecessarily getting involved here? It is not a priority for us, we should concentrate on developing an effective ABM shield, that is our priority as it gives teeth to our nuclear deterrence. Every one recognises that we have the required know how to do this, we will do it when the time comes.
