I thought now you guys were peaceful under schengen/eu but nevertheless its great for your airforce thst you’ve got f16 and Rafales. Even with crappy economy its pretty good…..doing better than many others

I wish Greece had neighbors like Switzerland or Portugal.
Unfortunately, Greece has Turkey, which threatens Greece with an invasion every day, a state that has already invaded in its three neighboring countries(Cyprus, Syria, Iraq), a state with pure imperialist and revisionist politics.
Greece is a peaceful country, but it is not stupid to remain unarmed when its enemy is clearly a direct and clear threat.

No,it's just Turkey. Back in the Cold War,we had Albania,Yugoslavia and Bulgaria,apart from Turkey. However,after the fall of communism,Albania was ridiculously poor,we only had political trouble with FYROM and we had very friendly relations with Bulgaria. But Turkey remained as an enemy,because in the '90s they started escalating their rhetoric. After 60 years they started talking about "grey zones" in the Aegean,claiming islands and the usual mock dogfights. There was a period where they relatively stopped,but after 2010 and especially 2016...Erdogan and his government started the big provocations. The claims. To let you understand,the last 3 years,they've been repeating how they will throw us in the sea,just like they did to our ancestors in Izmir in 1922. Basically,just like the Modi government in India,they twist the truth and make white look black.

First they complained about our EEZ,printing maps that include half the Aegean as their "Mavi Vatan",then they threatened with war if Cyprus drills for oil within their EEZ without giving the Turkish Cypriots half the profits (lol),then they started saying that we "violate" 100 year-old agreements by having garrisons on the islands (which is nonsense because we violate no agreements),now they have reached a point where they say we "occupy islands". And Erdogan's new slogan is "We will come one night,suddenly".

Something funny,Erdogan has been saying for a week "We can come one night,suddenly". Mitsotakis replied to him in a speech: "We are waiting in the daylight those who say they will come at night". And now the Turkish media say Greece is threatening with war

Anyway,I was at the Thessaloniki EXPO today and I got a lot of free posters of F-16s,Mirage 2000-5 Mk.II,Rafale,F-35,FDI HN and Leopard 2A6 HEL. I also took some photos,if you wanna check the Greek Army photos thread.

We all it "Skopje",although the government has forced the media to call it "North Macedonia" after the Ohrid agreement,which SYRIZA signed with them. However,they still call themselves "Makedontsi",disregarding the agreement. They didn't keep their end of the bargain largely and our governments have been doing nothing about it.

But they have problems with the Albanians in their country.

JF-17 doesn't have to match F-16V, different aircrafts and different roles, for PAF with prime enemy such as India both F-16 and JF-17 Works and has their own places.
