What is funny is that you brag about "our place" and you post a video of a mock dogfight,one of so many that have been taking place in the Aegean for the last 30 years. When I showed you statistics of the dogfights in the Aegean and shoot downs in the Aegean and during the wars in Cyprus,you went on to brag about old times.

The helicopter that flew in a recon mission over Imia that night,flew under bad conditions but was shot down by turkish fire. Not EW. By fire. It was unofficially admitted by a member of the government and minister of Defence some years ago. Both countries had covered up the incident back then and said the helicopter crashed because of the bad weather.

Admiral Lymperis was Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces at the time and he had kept reminding Prime Minister Simitis,of how the Greek Navy had the Turkish vessels locked on and ready to destroy them.
Something about a missile range advantage back then,that was eventually neutralized a few months or years later because the Turks upgraded their ships or missiles.

But then,Lymperis insisted in a first strike because we had the Turkish navy locked on,ready to fire and somehow had the upper hand. However Simitis detested the Papandreou-style policies who had given confidence to the Armed Forces and instead relied on the Americans. Eventually he forced Lymperis to resign.
