I have been to greece 8 times and Turkey twice. There is no ways... I mean no ways you can compare the two; it is like comparing a backwater 3rd world with a modern day country.
Greece third world country? No way.
Greek average salary is nearly two times bigger then Turkish. (917euros vs 552 euros).
University of Athens is one of top 100 university in the world, Turkey dont have any in top 100.
Life expectancy in Greece is 81 vs 75 in Turkey.
Terrorism in Greece doesnt exist, Turks have problems with ISIL, PKK, internal disputes.
Human Devolpment Index of Greece is on another level when we compare it with Turkish HDI.
Simply, even in miserably economic situation, Greece is better place to live. That doesnt mean, that Turkey is hellhole, just need decades of improvement to be considered as industrialized country.
Secondly, you do realize for the Rennasisance to happen, The ancient works were preserved and expanded upon by the scientists of the ISLAMIC civilization. Look up the definition of the word rennaisance and put it in the context of world history.
That's the reason why rennaisance was born in Europe but not in Islamic world.
Western world made bigger contribution to humanity in last 120 years, then rest of the world combined in last 2000. FACT.
