wait a second first nuke sub??? I though they already had many in their arsenal?! someone clear this up for me?Explaining the significance of building two more submarines in the context of global security architecture, sources said here on Monday reports indicated that China is also developing its first nuclear-powered submarine.
I guess, its 3+2 which is 5. The initial plan was to get 5 nuke subs.
Thats good, with Pakistan small economy, it will hurt them more, by spending money on subs.
That is the most common explanation but like i said earlier there's also a possibility that this report is hoax just like the follow on order of Scorpene and the number of MMRCA to increase to 260+ . Or DRDO and HSL might have placed the order in advance to build the three hull without getting an approval from MOD. I mean just look at DRDO's project. Unlike in other countries where armed forces gives their requirement to MOD/DOD or whatever and then based on that requirement the project is made but this doesn't happens in India. Also billions of funds where made available for ATV project (which include SSBN + SLBM), its possible that they might have placed order for 3 hoping thaT mod will place order for atleast 3 subs but then MOD might have just said first make the first one and then we will talk.If "3" was not approved then how can L&T have build it for?? So obviously it's 3+2 = 5 SSBN for India.
Germany never had nuclear subs.It should be US, Russia, France, Britain and China.but also propel India into the top league of five nations including US, Russia, France, Germany and UK which have such sophisticated platforms.
The Chinese have already operated the Type 91 and Type 93 Classes of SSN's and Type 92 and Type 94 class SSBN's.They are now developing the Type 95 and Type 96 Class SSN and SSBN respectively.sources said here on Monday reports indicated that China is also developing its first nuclear-powered submarine.
No it is either...1+2 or 3+2. I am saying this because First one as we all know is INS Arihant. Now in early 2010 there were reports of the completion of hull of 2nd and 3rd Arihant Class SSBN at L&T shipyad and they were about to be transported to Vizag. A few months back the news came about the work started on one of these hull (2nd Sub also known as INS Aridhaman). So there are three possibilities....
1) Either this is the follow on order i.e. now the total is 5. Which was always a possibility.
2) Or The work on 2nd and 3rd sub started even before MOD's approval and the approval just came. It has been happening in DRDO. Just like the latest Prahaar missile, there's no need mentioned but DRDO has made it in advanced hoping the apporval will come later from IA and MOD.
3) Or the third option, this news may well be hoax. I hope not, but remember last year when some news agency said that govt. has signed for 3 more Scorpenes.
if thats how it is then yeah this is gonna start an arms race in the region, especially India and pakistan.
India should maintain at-least 20 to 25 nuke subs
i know its not possible ovrnigte but constant decision like this is well appreciated it will start showing some result after 10 to 15 years
