A mixture of emotional people, political rivalry and general impatience. Sure the PML(N) govt is corrupt in many ways and I wouldnt vote for them but credit must be given where it is due. Dhaka, Addis Ababa, Cairo all have metros yet Pakistani cities shouldnt have apparently. Can the government do more in fields such as education and corruption, hell yes, but that doesnt mean that anything else that it does good should be immediately discarded. Public transport in Pakistan is a mess to put it mildly so these kind of projects do bring relief to the masses.

I personally have cousins who have benefited from the metro bus immensely. They dont take their bikes to work anymore, but rather commute to work. That means that just from my immediate family there are 7 less bikes on the roads of Lahore during rush hour. Start adding into that extended family, friends, neighbours and the numbers will go up into the dozens.

If its foreign investment..... investors choice no problem
if its federal govt............... they should focus on other provinces as well too much on punjab rwp-isb metro aslo partially being funded by federal govt.
if it is punjab govt.............. lakh dee lanat ... just travel one hour in any direction outside lahore and you will see the sondition of roads, govt schools and hospitals in abysmal state.... yes traffic is a problem... but a far lesser problem than education, poverty , health, police and various other departments which need much much more attention.

The money could have been better spent if cities like chakwal,sialkot,rahimyarkhan would get even the green lahore A.C buses but Sharif ka Punjab to Lahore mein he hota hay bus

real issue here is that Pakistan developmental fund is so small that we cannot afford such projects, even though none denies its immense importance.
so whats the solution??

plug up 500 billion rupees losses in power sector that have only developed recently in last decade and increase tax to gdp ratio to 15%. i hope PML N will achieve those as it has promised in its manifesto
