The government has exempted the industrial sector from power loadshedding. Spokesman of the Ministry of Water and Power Zafaryab Khan told APP here Monday that currently uninterrupted power was being supplied to the industry in order to meet the export orders.

"Zero power outage was being observed to the industrial sector of the country for the last month," he said.

He said that the power shortfall has also reduced and stood at around 2,300 MW against the total demand of 15,600 MW.

Regarding power load-shedding to the domestic consumers, he said that 6-8 hours load-shedding was being observed across the country. However, he said that more load-management was being carried out in areas of high losses and less recovery.

The spokesman said that the government had already expedited work on various power projects having accumulative capacity of 10,500 MW with the assistance of China.

He said that the provinces were also empowered to set up power plants and generate electricity at their own after the 18th constitutional amendment. It is pertinent to mention here that 10-12 hours power load-shedding was observed in past. While some areas also faced even 18-20 hours load-shedding. Since, its inception, the incumbent government paid full attention not only to set up new power projects but also made the distribution system efficient. The government also added over 2000 MW in the national grid system by clearing the circular debt of around Rs.480 billion.

Industry do need lots of boost.

Pakistani industry is falling with rapid pace, due to labour has become expensive. Workers don't like to produce quality plus quantity. Buyers moves away from Pakistani products and competition in international market is becoming very hard and investors are not changing their old mentality to complete from world.

Needs to be sustained now. Results won't show over night. Will take at least two quarters before there are any significant results.
