Are we making the lenses and sensors within the country?

I don’t think so. Mostly importing the critical components from China or elsewhere and than assembling them locally to show we made them.

isnt gids just the public face of nescom?

No. GIDS is under SPD control as a marketing entity for some of the products made by Government controlled factories making Defense goods

I think eventually we would go for Turkish ones. Turkish companies are making really good Red Dot and Night Vision Sights

Shibli assembled (Thales) Tarsier TI sights are being issued to regulars, seen them in service.

Haven't seen a TISA but since ATCOP is the one doing the assembly, these are probably being used as well.

Red dot procurement plan for regulars is stalled, so is the new rifle tender. Expect no red dots from Turkey or Belarus.

IICS hasn't been able to localize the HJ-8 (Baktar-Shikan) even after decades of service with PA, which makes me believe all TISA sights are just assembled by ATCOP. There is no industrial base to manufacture the core components.

So I put it as: GIDS markets products assembled by ATCOP, IICS, IDS, etc.

My information says other wise. Neither Red Dot sight is stalled nor Rifle Trials
