‘Ghar wapsi’: Politics of conversion!

He is right now at his ghar and chatting away to glory with his frens.
Lolzz

back on topic...
Sorry i didnt read the complete article but just the part put in BOLD.

One, I dont understand why do these hindutvawadis 've to shout at the top of their voice on loudspeakers while converting ppl?? cant they do it quietly???
Either they 're dumb or just trying the tit for tat formula.

Two, what many here dont understand is that hinduism had its share of evils and ergo many from the lower castes and poorer families decided to convert to Islam and Christianity.

Three, if its true that hindus were not lured into conversion then why is it so that many dont convert to Buddhism?? its the most peaceful (relatively) religion so to say. So yeah some of the theories regarding conversion by coercion could be true.

Madam, most of these poor are planned for and offered money, ration and facilities in exchange for conversion. When they don't get it, they choose to return back. That is when these 'liberal' media channels and their conniving paymasters create the word 'controversy'.

You know this is funny; one of the ministers of Indonesia's previous government left Islam for Buddh dharma (what is deemed as worthy of being killed in the former religion), and in Indonesia it didn't create controversy. Then why in India?
This means 2 things:

1- Either that you and us have given too much freedom to foreign religions in our country.
2- There is something seriously wrong with how we view 'free media' who is so free that they create false alarms ('controversial' ghar wapsi), violate national safety rules (showing Arihant's footage with PM when it violates Navy's rules, read about it) and malign political and public figures (Sachin, Dr. Swamy etc).

I knew about it.
One of my cousin sister who happens to be a village officer gets many applications for conversions and then later for re-conversions. Those who opt for re-conversions 're the ones on whom it would 've dawned that as sc/st they get more privileges or something to that effect, is what I was told

Afaik in Indonesia one of the airlines is named after hindu god garuda (@Jaat Rock I saw that as your status)

The issue has escalated to a level that despite being the majority, hindus 've developed a minority complex. So yes I agree that we 've given too much freedom to foreign religions but that should not mean that we force somebody to reconvert , thats the only thing I object to.

i. But if christian missionaries go in remote areas and work for upliftment of tribals, this becomes a conspiracy.
ii. Why can not their own religious organization go to them and work for them?
iii. They should deny these missionaries of any opportunity by serving the tribals themselves.
iv. And dont tell me hindu organizations dont have money. You should know how much money is offered at Tirupati, Shirdi, Vaishnodevi and various sects of hindus. Recently a temple in Kerala was found to be having a treasure of more than 20 billion USD.
v. Baba Ramdev has enough money to buy an island in UK or someone donated it to him.
vi. So money is not a problem. If they were really concerned about the poverty and literacy of tribals, they will go and use that money on them.
vii. But what we hear is that Bihar CM Jitanlal Manjhi goes to a temple to donate some money and later the whole temple is purified by cleaning with ganga jal because he belongs to a dalit community.
For your convenience I have numbered your statements and being neutral to you will consider your opinions borne out of ignorance rather than deliberate mischeif. I will nuke them one by one.

i. 'Upliftment of tribals' - Evangelicals or Missionaries are called so because they have a mission. And the mission is not to build hospitals or schools unconditionally for betterment of the people. The tribals 20 years back were starving Hindus and now they are starving Christians. That's all the difference there is. The places are open, go and see for yourself, or check the development reports for the districts....there is no improvement in HDI AT ALL. But that is expected, Christianity is not necessary so superior to a Dharmic faith that all socio economic factors will also improve right away. If things were so simple... :)

ii., iii. They do. But then Times of India comes. :D Besides, Swamis in India have a history of being killed in the most brutal fashion...especially when they are working in this particular field. From Swami Shraddhanand to Swami Lakshamanananda in 2008 (Murder of Swami Lakshmanananda - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia the followers religions of tolerance have had a track record of eliminating those who try the same thing from their side. I understand, scoring goals in an empty field is easier, perhaps thats where these Swamis came and spoilt the fun. So they try and are imprisoned on fake charges(then released as no chargesheet could be produced), harassed, killed etc etc. That leaves only the hardest of Hindu groups any freedom of action. Yes - the Bajrang Dal.

iv. Vaishnodevi, Tirupati money goes to the Government. The temples were nationalised in the 1950s. You would not know. No other religious place was. Vive la secularism. Shirdi is run as a private trust and the money it gets is used to run schools and several ashrams, converting people just to increase numbers have never been a priority. Indic faiths have not yet come to that level of perversion where proving a God false is of vital importance. Unfortunately it might go there, can;t predict the future. The Padmanaswamy temple in Kerala has crores worth of money - but the money was claimed as National property(as per law). But the Temple trust went to court and overturned the verdict on this case. Hence they have the Gold but they also can't touch a penny of it. Per law. :)

v. Ramdev was donated an island by an amalgamation of Business personalities. Folks in the corporate world hoard black money, even those who are foreigners. Buying an island and donating it to any trust does not make Ramdev guilty. It makes them guilty, not Ramdev. It's like I steal the Koh i Noor and gift it to you and the police take you to jail. Besides, even thinking that Ramdev will be out asking for money to 'convert people' is sickening. Like I said before, we have not reached the finesse of the Joshua Project, or the Tableeghi Jamaat.... yet.

vi. Money is a problem. In spite of that, money is spent - in fact huge amounts of it. Go to Ramkrishna Mission ashrams that dot the landscape. Then there is Bharat Sevasram Sangha. Also there's RSS etc. There is a reason why the animist, Hindu/pagan/whatever native culture is present there to this day. Even Nehru passed a law against conversions by Missionaries in 1956 - for changing the demography of tribals.

vii. Jitanlal Majhi ...well what to say... At least you say that you 'hear'. That is true. The Bihar Govt ordered a probe and as expected, nothing came out it.
This is the last resort - to divide Hindus on caste lines and attack them. But sorry, we have elected an able person who happen to belong to (what you might call) a low caste. So, yeah times have changed.Hindus have moved ahead, or at least trying to.

sorry for the late reply, @Norwegian... i had thought i take a self-exile but some topics must be replied to. :)

i give an open invitation to bajrang dal to try to convert me in front of international media... i guarantee that this will be the first step towards international ridicule of bd and the whole sangh parivar.

i don't know my part ancestry... arab, central asian, central indian or whatever else... and i don't care... i am socialist and i am because of me.

Yes, Evangelical Christians are wreaking havoc. And I don't support it at all. By a conservative estimate there are atleast 25000 Christian converts in the Valley right now. The number is still low in comparison but will create rift when it grows further. We are soft people(with exceptions) so this has not caused much of an uproar yet.

PS - I am against conversion by bribing by anyone. Muslims getting converted to Christianity or any other faith on the false promise of better life is very very unfortunate.

Hold it bro. :what: :P

And the evangelical menace is not just confined to India-check out how these groups systematically target Ismailis and other non Sunni denominations living in remote and economically backward regions of Puristan. As in India, the modus operandi is primarily based on exploiting vulnerabilities such as illiteracy, poverty and geographical isolation of target communities to lure them to the 'light of the gospel'...

If left unchecked, the rare and native local culture will be wiped out.
