No real difference. The same is with China and India.
No, its the same with India, not the Chinese though.

China has majority component manufacturing as well. India is till now pure assembly.

We are now trying to get component manufacturers to set up shop as well (like touch glass manufacturing), but they are very bitchy about setting up their plants in India.

For the longest time, China was simply assembling parts for phones.

Not 1 screw will be made in Pakistan ... , how can you say its made in Pakistan ?
The same way China could, even though they simply started out assembling parts.

What can I say, I like your optimism.
Right now we import everything including screws and miniature Li-Io batteries and put them together here. Foxconn operates the largest phone assembly plants.

About a month back, our budget raised import duty for affiliated products as well (not just the phones) which were imported duty free till now, so manufacturing of mobile chargers, usb plugs is set to begin this year.

But there is still no news about chip manufacturing(fabrication plants) - generally a $4-$10 billion investment, glass manufacturing - around $100-300 million investment, battery manufacturing still. And without these....

It takes time. China had the luxury have of having a massive population and massive credit, no other country really can compare (India has the population, but not the credit).
