Gerneral Kiani will have strategic talks with US

With due respect sir, what do we mean by democracy? is it wht we have got now is it called democracy? then we are better off with dictatorship.

A slap on the face of civilian goverment that a military chief is participating in strategic talk, where is the presedent, PM n leader of the nation? bcoz untill we dont have competent, educated people and the system to support them. we will never b able to withstand democratic goverment. and powers like ISI, military and establishments wont just bow to so called leader, until they r tamed by reasoning. none of the leader have got it.

and on the side note: excpet imran khan i think i prefer General kayani to run the show. civilians are useless.

no vision at all.

1: yes this is democracy. its democracy coz wrong decisions get corrected with public pressure and it doesnt become a matter of someone's ego. its democracy bec things are moving with consensus. smaller provinces which were burning are now much calmer if not quiet. its democracy bec provinces are getting their share in national wealth (NFC). Its democracy which managed to gather enough public support for military operations. by all means i luv this toti photi democracy than any dictatorship.

2: if you dont let your civilian leaders rule - keep them either in jail or outside this country - then surely they will lack the experience to lead such strategic talks on which your being in touch with ground reality is very important. and your beloved military and ISI will one day have to bow in front of these leaders or else gudbye pakistan.

3: yes civilians are useless but atleast they dont sell us for few dollar at the hands of foreign power

It is nice to read your thoughts. In India, we have have competent as well as incompetent governments from time to time. Some mediocre with a few policy exceptions.

But never did the Army or the defence occupy the Political chair. The people of the country should limit the realm of army to defending the country and not governing it.

On the job training is not ideal, but keeping in mind the system of governance and the power play we have had, these people are receiving on the job training. Only with time can they become good strategists.

First secretaries’ meeting chaired by army chief

SLAMABAD, March 16: Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani presided over on Tuesday a meeting of key federal secretaries at the General Headquarters (GHQ) to finalise agenda for the upcoming strategic dialogue with the US administration.

According to sources, federal secretaries for finance, foreign affairs, commerce and agriculture, along with the secretary in charge of information technology and petroleum, attended the meeting.

The meeting was part of a consultative process of civil and military bureaucracy to forge a consensus on key security and economic issues confronting the nation amid ongoing efforts against militancy and for strategic relations with key world powers.

The sources said the meeting had exchanged views on what should be the country’s priorities in the light of public demands, Pakistan’s anxieties and long-term national interests.

A secretary said the meeting was originally scheduled to be held at the ministry of foreign affairs, but was subsequently moved to the GHQ. He said it was the first-ever meeting of federal secretaries presided over by a military chief in a civilian set-up.

What is the sumarized , gain from the strategic talks has there been a conclusive report on exactly what Pakistan attained from such venture?

In cooperation between US and Pakistan armed forces
