German Media India new SUPERPOWER India Surpassed China

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been drumming up trade in Germany and many analysts are predicting the second most populous country in the world could be the next superpower. But does India really have what it takes to catch up with China or even overtake it? The population and the economy are already growing faster than its big Asian competitor. But for the time being at least India remains a country of deep disparities.

China is still a developing country, we are nowhere close to being a superpower (superpower = global leader/hegemon) like India is.

Here is the problem, even though China's nominal GDP is large ($11 trillion), we have more than a billion people in our population. Which means our GDP per capita is lower than Mexico.

Democracy is not a recipe for economic prosperity
"indian democracy" is a prime negative example to the rest of the world so far
