‘Geographic position makes Bangladesh an ideal place to link East with West’

Only possibility of gaining strategic land value is if northeast become independence or part of Bangladesh. All these countries will have need of Bangladesh plus China and Bhutan.

.
You are talking as if north east India is not having any land connection with mainland India..... sorry it's not like Azerbaijan nakcivan enclave..... it's very well connected with mainland India at siliguri corridor with 22km broad land mass....

We don't beg we pay you transit fees for using Bangladesh as a shortcut to reach NE...... from Kolkata if I have to travel to shillong instead of traveling all the way in north to siliguri and then connect to NE through chicken neck is a costly affair......you are getting paid for this not doing any charity....

Just wondering

How much does it cost?
The extra fees etc?

India cannot practically go to its NE without BD giving them transport routes on land and water. So, how India can connect itself with China and ASEAN without BD giving it access? In that case, we do not need extra territories in India's NE as we are already controlling the access routes.

BD is very strategically located for the future trade and transport for China-India and India-ASEAN trades. When railroads and highways are built there will be an Asian Era. Nothing of that sort will materialize without BD participation.

.
BTW you are still unable to explain why India needs to BEG to BD to connect to China and ASEAN.....
Your only land connection with China right now is Nathu La Pass, a treacherous Himalayan pass which remain close six months every year during winter. Other six months are also not good for transporting goods with this winding two lane road. Look at yourself.

This road is only siutable to do trade with Tibet, not China proper. Your most convenient road to China goes along Kolkata-Dhaka-Sylhet-Mandalay-Kunming corridor.

Now if you want to avoid Bangladesh to connect with ASEAN and China overland, your only option left is Siliguri Corridor, which is not adequate to connect even with your North-East, forget about ASEAN and China. Any meaningful connection with ASEAN and China requires India to keep Bangladesh on board, while Bangladesh can avoid India seamlessly with Chittagong-Cox's Bazar road/Railway going to Myanmar and China.

Now I understand infact he is the one who needs to learn maps and geography..... it seems he considers India a landlocked country..... ignore him....
India is not a waterlocked country, but a landlocked country with BD and Pakistan blocking its move toward east and west respectively. Accept the reality and keep on kowtowing BD to grant you corridor.

India even killed BCIM. India can not even tolerate BBIN. China wanted to have more inclusive and there were/are indian influenced regime in Bangladesh, these are main reasons why BCIM took shape, BUT it was proven that Chinese expectation was wrong.

Real viable route of connectivity from China to Bangladesh had been and always will be through Cox's Bazar-Teknaf. Bangladesh did not and do not need to to be hyphenated into indian agenda with China. India can have its own connectivity with China through its own direct connection points with China.

You guys are simply overestimating your location.... firstly India China major trade and connection is through sea routes.... amount of import and export between 2 countries and ASEAN makes only sea routes a practical and cheap solution.... do you think what you can import or export using sea cargo you can do the same thing with road transport??? Sorry you are absolutely wrong.... even cpec that China is building through Pakistan to connect middle east won't be enough to match what China can send or bring using sea routes through malacca or sunda..... yes I again agree that BD is a good shortcut for us to connect to our NE but it certainly can't make us BEG to connect to China or ASEAN......

How can Pakistan stop us if we want to send merchant ship to middle east and how can BD stop us if we want to send merchant ship to Myanmar.... please provide proper map and stats.....

Any country which has even a few km coastline to open water can take advantage of maritime trade worldwide. Our argument is not about that, but the additional benefit of taking advantage of land port. There is a reason why Bangladesh-India has 22 land port despite the fact that Kolkata-Chittagong sea port is mere 500 km apart.

And land route is not only important for trade but also laying various pipeline. You guys are unable to import gas from Central Asia as Pakistan is not giving you permission to use their territory to build pipeline. You can certainly import LNG from Qatar instead but it would have been much much cheaper and convenient if a direct pipeline from Turkmenistan to Delhi were in place. LNG is a costly fuel.

Similarly, Indian govt. wanted to build a gas pipeline from Myanmar to India over Bangladesh but Bangladesh did not agree, so that pipeline did not matelialized.

Please now don't bring pipelines in between.... did India die or stopped functioning because Pakistan didn't approve pipeline through his territory??? His land his wish.... if he wants to let transit fees go away what can we do??? We will bring gas or oil whatever we want from Turkmenistan anyway.....:lol::lol:
And there is NOTHING Pakistan can do about it except increasing cost for us......

BD didn't approve pipeline it's his wish okay we will pay higher cost but it can't stop the functioning of India..... so even my argument is not that how many kms coastal lines India has..... I'm just telling that under no circumstances India has to BEG to BD to connect to China or ASEAN.... stop overestimating your location.....

The point is that generally speaking a country gain enormous strategic location if no other feasible and manageable route exist at all. For India to go to China or southeast is via sea.

Now if all these north eastern states gain independence, their reliance for trade will be Bangladesh as they will not have any proper feasible substitute.

Who is talking here India is waterlocked? But, India will remain a landlocked country with two of its adversaries in the east and west. It will not allow India's economy to integrate with other Asian nations.

However, BD is quite benevolent by allowing India corridors. So, keep on praying to us. In the morning when you guys worship the Sun in the east, do not forget Bangladesh also lies in the east and you are worshipping both the Sun and Bangladesh. We appreciate that.

. .
But is it a very nice climate though?

Four months out of the year like California weather (NorCal). and another four like in rainy Costa Rica. The least favorable four are hot and humid, the season of huge mangoes, litchees and other fruit, too many to count.

You both can't stop India from connecting with any nation in east or west through sea and air...... agreed if you want to deny us land routes you can...... your country your decision....... but you are still unable to explain why India needs to BEG to BD..... even for NE we won't use BD as a shortcut IF WE WERE STAUNCHEST ENEMIES LIKE INDO PAK OR INDO CHINA......

Bangladesh's temperature never dip below freezing in winter, pleasant 10-20 degree celsius is the norm. In the summer, daily maximum 30-35 degree celsius. It very rarely touch 40 degree celsius in some part of the country. Unlike many parts of India where summer temperature regularly touch 50 degree celsius. Bangladesh get sufficient rainfall in the summer months, which negate the extreme heat. But high humidity from June to September is a problem which accompany the monsoon season. Bangladesh's climate is much similar like Thailand and Vietnam.
