General Bajwa approves deployment of 200,000 troops for census

The Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday authorised the deployment of upto 200,000 troops to support the often delayed national population census, said a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The troops will be deployed while continuing other security responsibilities, added the ISPR statement.

The population census will yield statistics about internal migration, urbanisation, as well as rural and urban population across the country. The population data will be used for delimitation of the constituencies of the national and provincial assemblies, a requirement under the constitution.

Is it Army alone or also Para Military Forces ?

Kyun sirf fauj na apni tankhuwa halal karni e? Baqi haramkhor sirf logon ka khon peenay ke liyay hain!

Army should own up to their jawan and stop using it as a 'bakshu' for civ incompetence. What happens to their quest of civ empowerment when they shamelessly ask for such help.

. . . . .
Why we don't close statistics department and give the funds to NADRA and ask her to devise mechanism to keep these stats updated instead of doing it after decades?

Army personnel can conduct it in organized and timely manner. In past, its always Army which has been assigned this job by the Govt.
Army is a disciplined organisation no doubt about it but these activities will put an un necessary burden on them (but results will be proper)...

Its only deployed in troubled areas, not in every part of the country
Ok now I got it !!!

. . .
Actually this census is a relic of past and legacy for the third world and under-developed countries of slaved nations..in the developed countries it is an ongoing process where each and every new birth, death, immigrant, emigrant gets recorded. Why does countries like Pakistan not make use of IT? Why do we have to spend billions of Rs and precious time of our military personnel? That's a huge security risk
